Watch the best of programmes broadcast on RTÉ Television with the RTÉ Player App.

You can watch selected programmes live from RTÉ One, RTÉ 2 and RTÉ News Now plus catch up on a wide selection of programmes broadcast on RTÉ Television for up to 21 days after transmission.

Social sharing features allow you to share programmes via email, Facebook and Twitter. You can browse programmes by name, category, date or latest. You can save programmes as a favourite and pick up on a programme where you last viewed.

The RTÉ Player App supports AirPlay so you can watch programmes on the big screen using Apple TV.

While most RTÉ Player content can be accessed through the app, some programmes may not be available due to rights restrictions. We are continually looking to clear rights and add new programmes.

The RTÉ Player App uses streaming technology which means that you must be connected to the Internet in order to watch programmes. The app will automatically adjust video quality based on the speed of your WiFi connection.

The worst app in existence

Is anyone surprised that the RTE Player is terrible? Nope! Always stopping to load for ages. 4 ads before you even start, ad breaks in the middle and never remembers where you are in the episode so when you've watched over half of it and gone back in its starts from the beginning ads, then loads and loads. When you finally get into the episode to skip forward, you have to watch the middle ads again. A joke!

An awful experience

Endless ads for a service we are required by law to pay for. The amount of ads is simply unacceptable. You can’t scrub through a show on iPhone because that triggers more ads. On Apple TV there is no way to scrub video only 2X, 4X etc playback options that simply freeze frame so it’s impossible to actually find where you want to go. EVERY OTHER STREAMING APP HAS VIDEO SCRUBING! I barely use this app apart from to see the news and still it’s such a user hostile and awful experience. Did I mention the multiple unskilable 30 second adds you’re forced to watch constantly? Awful.

Shocking app

It rarely works with chromecast. It occasionally will work on the phone but will cut out at least once per episode/match/programme.

App always crashes. Hard to watch anything on it.

Steams are constantly freezing during the games.
