I used to love this app. But all of a sudden my scanner stopped working. I have been trying to get in touch with the company for months and I never get a response even though my subscription is up-to-date and paid. Frustrated

Dog and cat lovers who care about the health and safety of their furry little friends use this app to identify harmful ingredients, recalled pet food and the products True Country of Origin by simply scanning the barcode found on every pet food product.
The Safe Pet Treats app identifies over 30 harmful ingredients used today by many pet food manufacturers including, BHA, BHT, Ethoxyquin, Propylene Glycol, and By-Products. You no longer need to remember every single harmful or toxic pet food ingredient because this app does it for you. Just scan the barcode and in less than 2 seconds you'll instantly know if the dog or cat food is safe. This app comes in handy when you're at the pet store looking at the wall to wall selection wondering which product is safe.
In addition to identifying harmful ingredients, the Safe Pet Treats app will also show you if the scanned product has been recalled by the FDA or manufacturer.
Our latest update now also tells you the products True Country of Origin. Some pet food companies use labels that say Made in the USA or Manufactured in the U.S. but fail to mention where the ingredients are sourced from. Only a handful of companies are U.S. Made and Sourced, the rest are either U.S. made with imported ingredients or U.S. made with domestic and imported ingredients.
For products made outside the U.S. & Canada, the app will show you that country's name, for example, "Made in China". For products made in the U.S. & Canada, the app will show you one of these results:

This cat and dog app was made by animal lovers (just like you). We found out about the hidden dangers in pet food and now we want to alert other pet owners so that they don't feed their furry little friends harmful pet food. We're not a giant corporation and we do not have multiple apps like other app developers. This is our only app and 100% of our attention is on it. We're adding products to the Safe Pet Treats database on a daily basis and we're regularly updating the app so that you can have an app that you can rely on and help protect your pet.

This app does not display advertisements. The Safe Pet Treats app uses a subscription model in order to cover hosting, database and development fees. These payments will be charged to your iTunes account after the 1-week free trial is over. Each subscription is automatically renewed unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period. The .99¢ a month renewal or a $9.99 annual renewal will be charged within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period.

Poor Scanner and Search Quality
When I could get it to actually scan, it was helpful but scanner worked 2/10 and search rendered nothing
Love this app!
It’s difficult to purchase products for pets when they hide dangerous ingredients in their period this app has been a lifesaver! I am a certified behavior expert and we recommended often to our clients.
Not a lot of information
This is not a user-friendly app it was not even worth the $.99 a month. I scanned a lot of the items that I scanned there was no information on ingredients was available. I would not recommend.
Hardly Any Reviews
I just started using the app. Out of all the things I scanned so far, about 10 maybe, only 3-4 had an update. No review on food quality for the rest I scanned which was pretty disappointing considering I have to pay for the app after 1 week of use. Also, it might be good to add a feature that allows me to see the items I’ve already scanned. Similar to the Yuka app I currently use for food and cosmetics. It allows me to scan quality and saves all previously scanned items for me to view later. If the product I’ve scanned does not pass Yuka’s quality check it also provides me with similar products that do pass the quality check.
Waste of money
App does not work at all. Scanning features and search features do not work.
Doesn’t work
App makes you pick a subscription plan to even try it out. I gave it the benefit of the doubt and went ahead and did it. But upon entry, it doesn’t even work. I really wanted to like this but unfortunately can’t.

Tried using scanner on Royal Canin Cat food, nothing happened.

This app has completely transformed the way I treat my pets! The variety of tips, the rich information, the alerts on recall items alone is priceless. I already lost one of my 3 babies because I used to feed him dry kibble. Thanks to SAFE PET TREATS I now cook for my two golden retrievers real healthy food! They are happy babies! Thank you guys!
The scanner doesn’t work 98% of the time
I subscribed to this app because it was so recommended on different sites. My dog is allergic to so much so I thought it would help in finding better food and treats. It may if it would actually scan a bar code! I have a new iPhone so no outdated phone. I don’t recommend this app!
