Samantha Browne Reviews

super cute & meaningful game!

i first played this a long while ago (like YEARS ago, so ive pretty much forgotten everything since then) and recently discovered it again, figuring to give it another try since i liked it so much the first time. as expected: it was great >:) the art style? muah. nothing more to say there. the music? muah as well. very cozy + comfy vibes, will definitely check out other games the developer and artists may (hopefully) have. it *is* a short game, but personally i really like games like these; games that you can sit down and curl up in a blanket, sipping on a cup of coffee, and play in one sitting. i do wish it had more replay value (i forgot the keys the first playthrough and did not enjoy making that darned cup of oatmeal all over again 💀) but its fine, the game is already made so ill focus on what there *is* to review. some negative reviews were criticizing the game for its non-relatable protagonist, though i dont think thats too important for the message of the story. whether or not you have social anxiety, you are witnessing the thoughts and actions of this one person and how she navigates her life. at first, i was kinda frustrated with how no matter what i chose, the "uh oh" bar (forgot its name) kept rising and rising. then i realized thats actually pretty accurate, since a person with anxiety can reassure themselves all they want but that anxiety will still be there, they can't help it. yes, reassurance can help you from getting completely overwhelmed, but it doesn't "fix" you and make your anxiety go away. despite the player's input, samantha got increasingly stressed because she was out of her comfort zone. once she returns to her room, she remarks how "that wasn't so bad after all!" or something like that. i think that's a really good message. take it slow, take it easy, and you can make progress in overcoming your anxiety. at times, samantha was somewhat of a relatable character for me, but going back to a previous point, her relatability is not crucial in enjoying the game and learning a good moral. this game reminded me that everyone has different worries and concerns, and that i should always be understanding of them. like some things may seem kind of ridiculous but it's important to cut people some slack and not be too hard on them. of course, it's important for samantha to fight against these obstacles in her life to grow as a person and whatnot, but she must do so in a sensible way that doesn't completely terrify her. we should all suppor

i was surprised at many ratings of this game. “it took me 10 minutes”, “there’s no point”, “boring”, etc. 1. it’s beautifully done from the art to the message. there’s so much detail & it even illustrates the reality of many people who face severe social anxiety every day 🖤 2. there are so many endings to uncover; i had played for an hour and only found around three. if you think the game is too short, you might’ve been too quick to judge :) 3. although there are many things this game doesn’t have that well-funded and commercialized games do have, there is a wonderful feeling of finding hidden treasure. there aren’t ads or in-game buying options so it feels so *genuine* to play ! tldr; just get it ! spend as little / much time as you’d like, worth it in any case

The repetitive microwaving part annoys me. But this game is relatable.

I don’t really have any problems with this game, as a person that struggles a lot with anxiety I found this game really fun and relatable, the only thing is that it’s really short and it took me a few try’s to get the good ending but that’s just me being like set in my path, what’s good with the game, it has a good representation of anxiety and like stressing over everything, also the oatmeal made me hungry, I don’t care about the swearing because I’m — and everyone my age swears like also $h!t isn’t really that bad (in my opinion) also I just wish we got more than than game maybe a two or a part two or just more of the game because I think Samantha is so fun and like cool to be in her life. From idk my name

I love this game so much, the style, the character EVERYTHING. I would love for this game to turn into something bigger, or make a game with the same character. It’s such a short and simple game but I adore it!!
