How much does SBrick cost?
SBrick has several in-app purchases/subscriptions, the average in-app price is 69.90 S/.
we've never really been able to use the expensive sbrick because the app is terrible. it seems like they just sort of abandoned this product and have never tried to fix the bugs and get it working properly. first, the account you sign up to the S brick website cannot be used for your account inside the app. Then whether I try to sign up for a new account or sign in with the existing account, I am met with an error message. Not wrong password or anything like that, just that there is an error. I will be giving this bricked brick to somebody else and finding a better solution for my power functions motors.
The app crashes immediately
On an iPhone, fully updated with iOS 15, that has just been fully factory reset and has no other apps installed, I am unable to even set up a new controller. The app crashes every time I try to add a remote control profile.
I have this to control my LEGO Christmas train. I can’t even turn it on. So disappointing.
User experience is horrible and firmware won’t update.
The bricks are cool, but the software interface is a mess and the app warns the brick needs new firmware but won’t update it. I’m sorry I spent money on these.
Pain in the APP!
Haven’t used the app for some time. Broke out the rc tank for the kids and the app is absolutely broke; complete garbage. What happened? Reading the latest review and it’s EXACTLY what I am experiencing. Has the developers even paid attention? If they were actually USING their product, they would know about these issues and FIX them. The controller is now worthless. Hey Vengit, when and if you fix this crap app, how about you include basic (simple) vehicle control configurations into the app code... i.e. 2x4, 4x4, and track driven vehicles. I expect this app to work in a month or you will be buying the controller back.
Cannot update the firmware
Cannot update the firmware. No response when touching the screen.
Great hardware, broken app
The SBrick hardware is amazing (when it used to work), however the app is downright awful. (I hadn’t used the sbrick or app for about six months, but the software is the latest version.) First, it didn’t display correctly at all on my ipad mini 4. So i use my iphone, and the app says the sbrick needs a firmware update, but the firmware update button does nothing. I try again, and this time the lower half of my screen is white and is covering up the buttons in the app. There’s no fix expect to close the app and try again. I try again, and this time i get spinning circles that never go away, even after several minutes. I have to close the app as it’s now frozen. I try to make an account even though I shouldn’t need one to use the sbrick, and when i try to make an account i am met with the same “spinning circles of infinity” and my account never gets registered. The interface for making and choosing control layouts is also not intuitive or very user friendly. With the software in this state, i cannot recommend sbrick to others.
TLDR: i tried to use my sbrick after 6 months and the software is broken on both my ios devices.
Does NOT work on X or Xs - Update- works now
Very upset, you say iphone X support in changelog, but not able to see any profiles on my X, 120.00 down the toilet (for 2 Sbricks)
Seems to be working now.
Thanks
Update your profiles
I’ve been using SBrick for two years now and have been rather pleased with the product. There was a learning curve creating profiles and custom controls for use with a tablet or phone but after assigning the controls the response is almost immediate, like fractions of a second which is not noticeable.
I’ve been using the SBrick to control my trains at train shows which has been such an ease to hit a stop button from a stationary position instead of chasing after the model with the proprietary IR receiver. The range has never been an issue and the club I participate in has some rather large layouts.
Over the past year I encountered some difficulties with my apps crashing on my tablet and phones, this was because of an incompatibility with my designer profiles which had become outdated and the firmware on the Sbricks. After updating my designer profiles and updating the firmware on the SBricks my trains were running as usual. So make sure you are updating the user profiles with current values like .1 to 1 when two years ago the values were out to two decimal places .25etc
Over all I have been very pleased with the product and have been looking into the SBrick plus and the programming capabilities.
Keep your app updated
Keep your firmware updated
Keep your designer profiles updated
App crashes constantly
App worked after first purchasing the sbrick. I came back to use it a few months later and now I can’t even use my brick as the app crashes trying to set up controls or even trying to use previously set up creations. Useless!
Works very well
After buying the SBrick and downloading the app, I was immediately able to create control profiles and connect with my creations. It functions very well, I don't have the delay that some other reviewers mention. Range is good, about 100 feet. I have had no problems with the app at all.
