The SBS Transit app not only offers bus arrival timings on a real time basis, it also provides a host of helpful information such as details of the bus routes, bus services that are delayed or diverted and scheduled changes in bus operating hours. Yesterday we took the 502 from Parc Oasis to the city at 10.50 am. We were very pleasantly surprised to be greeted by the bus captain as we boarded the bus. “Good morning and how are you? Welcome!” Said Malaysian Indian driver Robert. We have never been greeted this way before and with a genuine smile. We noted that he greeted everyone that boarded the bus and said goodbye to those who left. He even got up to tell us that there will be one more stop before stopping at along Orchard Rd. He had to brake hard at the 6th Avenue junction because the lights were turning red. For that he apologised to the passengers. I must commend him for his safe driving and for his social skills. I only wished you have more captains like him. It is not uncommon to find drivers like him where we live in Australia. However it’s a rare breed in Singapore. Please encourage others to emulate him. Kept telling me the end location is unavailable when I tried journey planner. This app takes ages to load before it even opens, then it rarely loads the information required, the buses come and go... still waiting for it to load info... not worth the trouble!
