Scalar is very well written and appears to be endless in its applications. I have tried to learn about music theory by reading and then exploring, but Scalar is more about exploring, testing ideas, and having fun. I have Studio One Pro and it integrates well with that DAW. I have tried a few different music generators, but they were not making me think, they were too automatic and in my opinion, I was not progressing. I am currently exploring transitioning between different scales in the same songs, this is so much fun. Besides the wealth of free videos on Youtube, I highly recommend taking the Scalar courses on School of Synthesis.
