Scrivener keeps my writing well organized. Couldn’t recommend enough
I was worried reading all the issues everyone had with Syncing, and they’re all genuine concerns (I had some of the issues myself and had to look up a tutorial on how to properly Sync from Dropbox) 1. You need a Dropbox account. It’s free to use, don’t worry about the subscription offer. When you open the Scrivener app, it’ll have an option to link your drop box account. This will create an “Apps” folder that creates a “Scrivener” folder holding the essential files for Scrivener. In this “Scrivener” folder, upload your project’s folder from desktop. 2. When Syncing, you cannot have both programs open at once. For mobile changes syncing to desktop: make sure the desktop application is closed. When you make a change to mobile, sync and close the app. Wait a minute or two for everything to sync to Dropbox, and open the desktop version. Everything should now be synced, and this works the same vice versa from desktop to mobile. I am used to the real-time syncing of Google Docs, so this may be tedious if this is what you’re familiar with too, but as someone whose main projects are on Scrivener, this is a useful app to access and work on my projects from mobile to desktop.
The best writing application I’ve used so far. A powerhouse from concept to compilation.
Getting into screenwriting mode is a scavenger hunt. When you finally it, it doesn’t format the margins properly and there are no page breaks.
This app does not sync with icloud. Please make that more obvious in the description. I was apprehensive about purchasing this but thought that in 2024 there’s no way that two purchased versions of the same product (MacOS and iPadOS) would not be able to communicate easily with each other and sync. But nope. This app is now useless to me and I’m out 25 bucks.
For everything I needed Scrivener for, it succeeded and then some. I mainly use this app for script writing and world planning, so the folders are an incredible lifesaver. As for the script writing feature, it is immaculate, takes a minute to get used to thought (coming from someone who only ever used word 2007). It’s tutorials are entertaining and easy as well. Overall, it is a great app to use for writing of any kind.
This would literally save my life right now. Everything is great, and I’ve really had no issues with the app. Without the option to convert my writing to HTML however, I’m completely unable to utilize its basic functions (bold, italics, underlines). I know this version of Scrivener is meant to be basic and limiting by nature, but adding at least the HTML feature would greatly help me and any others who require such a service, especially on IPads. Our options are very limited as is, so this feature would greatly benefit us.
I was really looking forward to editing my several stories I have been working on in my iMac. I seamlessly share these Scrivener files between my iMac and my MacBook Pro. I purposefully purchased my new iPad Pro M2 in order to continue writing and editing my stories while on the go. Alas, that is not possible with the iPad version of Scrivener. I am hoping that the Scrivener organization wise up and learn that it is easier to share iCloud folders then it is those in dropbox for the Apple ecosystem. fortunately, Apple’s, Pages app will keep me out of trouble at least in a basic mode.
It works great. The Dropbox sync is quick and intuitive. I'm using the mobile app alongside windows and have absolutely no problems jumping from one to the next. The mobile app is easy to navigate and I appreciate that it syncs the entire project. It's less convenient than the desktop version but that's to be expected. It's a perfect companion application. Thank you for making an actual single purchase application that prioritizes local files. I can't believe how hard that is to find.
The Dropbox syncing from iPad to Mac is problematic. While troubleshooting, I saved the file on Dropbox and reinstalled the app. Now the file can’t be opened. It’s saying that there’s zero bytes and XML is corrupt. Awful. I have to start over again.
