## Shot of the Dark Description
Shot of the Dark is a specialty coffee journal for iPhone and iPad. Log every brew, score cups on the SCA form, and watch your taste profile take shape.

Free to start. Some features require a subscription — see plans below. Try a subscription FREE for 14 days.

A portion of subscription proceeds supports Positive Childhood Alliance NC.
——————————————
LOG EVERY BREW
——————————————
Record as much or as little as you want. Quick Log captures name, roaster,
rating, and notes in seconds. Detailed Log adds brew recipe, grind size, grinder
setting, tasting notes, and flavor profile. Pro Log includes full SCA cupping
scores.
——————————————
TRACK YOUR TASTE
——————————————
Your Flavor DNA builds as you log — see whether you lean fruity, floral,
chocolatey, or earthy. Analytics show every origin you have brewed from and
every roaster you have tried. Score cups against SCA cupping criteria when you
want a rigorous evaluation.
——————————————
BREW SMARTER
——————————————
A guided brew timer with stage prompts and haptics. Brew ratio calculator.
Grinder setting tracking, so you can dial in a coffee once and repeat it.
Method guides for grind size and water temperature.
——————————————
DECAF, TAKEN SERIOUSLY
——————————————
Choose whether you see every coffee, no decaf, or decaf only — and change your
mind any time. Decaf coffees are labeled with how they were decaffeinated,
because Swiss Water, mountain water, sugarcane ethyl acetate and CO2 do not
taste the same.
——————————————————————————
DISCOVER SPECIALTY ROASTERS
——————————————————————————
A curated library of coffees from [VERIFY]+ independent specialty roasters.
Filter by roast level, brew method, and flavor profile, and get recommendations
based on what you have actually logged and rated.

Some links to coffee and equipment are affiliate links. We earn no commission on
any feature you need to use the app.
