Having two windows open at any time has a 50 percent chance of completely destroying the app, so I get my laptop out with my iPad to have the two windows open separately and then it still freezes just the same with one window open. Showbie is an app that could do with some major improvements, to say the least. I’ve lost count of the times the app has moved my text box to the death barrier or just deleted my work because it got out of the wrong side of the bed that morning, and other students would agree. Constant crashes make schoolwork a pain. The text feature on the student document editor in this app is abhorrent. It’s so bad it deserves an entire paragraph in this review. For starters, you cannot move the text box a single pixel outside the document, unless the app decides to move it to the shadow realm after you press enter. Likewise, there is a limit to how small you can set the width of your text box independent of text size, and these two factors make fitting text into boxes on worksheets impossible in most cases. Also, there’s only one font (which is quite ugly) and no bold/italic formatting. You could argue that I can use the pen or comment tool, even though those aren’t very good either, but I expect features in an app to work. Additionally, the design of the app itself is bad. Assignments are ordered alphabetically with no way to change it to chronological, it’s a pain for teachers and parents to use as well (see other reviews), and did I mention the text boxes? Showbie crashed after an hour and a half of my work has been done, I see the light, ready to hand it in… but NO, Showbie crashes AND DELETES MY WORK. Not only does this mean I’ve wasted an hour and a half doing work that I couldn’t even correct because it crashed before I had the chance to mark it, but it also wasted an extra half and hour because I’m nothing but a mere human, fuelled with hatred, anger and denial towards the fact that my work has deleted, so I continuously reload Showbie, on multiple devices and different platforms, but to no avail, it’s gone. I think writing this bad review will clear my head and allow me to continue with my revision, only to get told off on Wednesday for not completing the homework. You might suggest redoing it, but what’s the point. I have two weeks until my exam, why would I bother rewriting what I know. I’m so angry, and I’m so angry that there’s multiple reviews about this issue, and that the Colin Bramm and Roy Pombeiro probably know that students like me are suffering, and they aren’t fixing it.
