Sidekick by Sorted Food Reviews
Not optimized
Been watching sorted food for years and still do. But the app made me a bit annoyed, I was logged out a few times, lost my saved recipes three times and the search function didn’t really work (kept resetting filters). Sad about this because I wanted to use it. It annoyed me too much with these bugs though.
Password sharing is a crime
My partner and I have really enjoyed the app. Sometimes the recipes don’t pan out, but having used it for almost two years we know what we’ll like and what won’t work. But now we can’t be logged onto two devices at the same time and it’s driving me crazy. I do not want to pay more just to password share. I’m not sure we’ll continue on ones the subscription expires.
Second year and loving the new updates
I’m on my second year of Sidekick (Meal Packs when I started) and I’m loving the new updates like the Want to Cook-list. Works perfectly if you live alone and need lunch boxes, too. I usually get 3 meals out of the ones geared for two.
iPhone 14 Pro Max issues
Doesn’t scale right for the 14 Pro Max. Can’t click the corners… Super frustrating since I have two meals left from last week I was going to cook now and I can’t go back… Food is in the fridge…
Loving the app
Absolutely amazing! Great concept! Love everything about it! Have been using it since I started my trial in april. I have cooked the recipes for myself and my family and sometimes friends. Its a hit everytime!! Cannot praise it enough
Made a working app useless
You took a working app and made it practically useless. Before you could easily change to cook for 4 people. Now that is impossible since the app, no matter what you do, choose 2 people. Not only that, when choosing 4 people the quantities for the recipes doesn’t show. How could you make so much worse? Did you guys even try the app before releasing it? Expected a lot more from you.
Totally improved the way we eat
We love sidekick. It’s saved us money due to lack of waste (ingenious recipe design), expanded our horizons in terms of ingredients and variety, and it’s fun. Me and my other half both have it on our phones, there is a shared subscription which meal plans, shopping lists etc. are shared. And the end results are terrific - we’ve cooked 245 recipes and 24 packs (apparently) and can count the number we didn’t like/wouldn’t repeat on one hand. Thank you to all the team at Sorted.
Great app with a few *
Really loving the app so far.
Of the 7 recipes I’ve cooked all 7 I’d cook again (with some minor variance)
Love the step by step guidance and for those of us that are fans can feel like we are part of the sorted kitchen which is nice.
The search functionality is okay but could be a bit better and an improvement here would likely make this a 5 star app, the ability to search by more exclude more etc .
I’d also love to be able to group recipes by ingredients meaning- if I’ve got a recipe that’s using beef mince I can see recipes that use the same ingredients to insure less food waste.
Overall a really good app with a yearly subscription that is a bit to high for me to comfortably recommend to friends and family with out a sale. Here’s hoping for another Black Friday sale on the subscription next year
Lots on offer but doesn’t seem well suited for those with limited equipment
I like how much variety there is in recipes and look forward to making my first dish, however from my first use I can already tell there is an issue with filtering options. While the app is great at recognising food intolerances or preferences etc, it seems impossible to search for dishes by equipment. Many of the dishes I’m being suggested or seeing require stoves or ovens, which I don’t have, but I don’t see information on how to adjust the recipe for different equipment (eg an airfryer or slow cooker ), nor can I filter the search engine or Home Screen by equipment. As such, it’s very hard to find dishes that I will be able to make without having to guess how to do it, which was what I was trying to avoid in the first place. I think fixing this gap could be a very easy and useful update to the app and I really hope they implement it.
Great app but sadly had to delete
It’s a incredibly well designed app but I sadly had to unsubscribe and delete as they don’t include any calories in the dishes. I have to carefully track calories and fat content in my food and having to do it myself for each dish is really time consuming and frustrating when it ends up being too high for me to eat. Hope there’s an option for this soon and I’ll be back!
