Simplenote Reviews

An essential app true to its name

MoonJuice1 on

So many note apps get bloated, try to do too much and adopt confusing UI. Simplenote is exactly that, an app whose main strength is in keeping it simple. Simple UI. Easy to organise folders. Seamless integration between phone, tablet & computer. I've tried all the different Notes apps. Only Simplenote became an essential app in my daily workflow.

Great app

This helped me in so many different niche ways when I need some codes or passwords from my phone to the computer or vice versa

Simple

As per the title this app is terribly sophisticated but but what does simple stuff what we do most of the brilliantly. I’ve been using it for around 10 years and can’t do without it.

Dark mode icon

Please support dark mode icon on iOS. It’s one of the few apps on my home screen which stands out (in a bad way).

AWFUL APP

CalypsoK203 on

DO NOT USE! Constant issues with data loss due to this app’s inability on sync notes properly.

The BEST simple note taker on IOS

TheWightGuy on

I’ve tried so many similar apps, but only this one ‘just works’ with a beautiful simplicity. I can tap out notes on my iPad, and be sure they’ll turn up on my pair of refurbished Mac Minis, or for that matter my ancient iPhone. Superb.

Deleted your edits, loses your data

Lordweiner273 on

Don’t be fooled. This app works great at the beginning, then after a few years you’ll swear you updated a note but the data isn’t there. They may fix the problem but in a few years time they’ll let it happen again. This could mean you lose CRUCIAL data at the worst possible time without even realising you’ve lost it. DO NOT, buy this app. 99% of the time it works fine, but that 1% will screw you over.

They keep all your old notes

spark101 on

If you look at the backup notes, old notes are still there. No server purging. No local encryption. No updates. Better to go for the likes of Notesnook or StandardNotes. Free plans better than Simplenote.

Would be five stars if you were able to archive notes

Reliable and compact

jeffd94 on

Really well designed, and very reliable and simple. Works on every OS and device. It doesn’t copy formatting when you copy and paste text, which some might regard as a limitation, but I like how unnecessary formatting is stripped out, so you can copy into another location without adjustments. The one text format it does recognise is the http hyperlink, which of course is very useful. The search function works great. It’s freeware at the moment. I note that they have started a subscription version. I couldn’t afford their suggested rates, but would consider donating to support them, like Wikipedia or Libreoffice etc, if that was an option.
