Very solid

Easy to use and efficient

Account could not be opened

App promises a lot. But if one cannot open an account … what,then, is the point?

Poor service

Your entire train service is terrible. Constantly late, trains don’t turn up at all sometimes, and the frequency of trains on the main route to the North of Sweden is shocking. Sack the boss.

Don’t use buy at the station

Charges SEK 17 for bookings cheaper to buy at the station and quicker

Only for Swedish residents

The latest version requires confirmation of mobile number with a code that can only be sent to Swedish mobiles. Brilliant! This means that even with a Swedish ID number, a Swedish bank account, and a SJ Prio account with accumulated points, I can’t use the app, because I have a British phone number. And before you ask, non-residents can’t have a Swedish mobile contract. Airline apps work for everybody. Why discourage train travel?

Good, but some persistent flaws

Very clean and functional design. When booking a ticket on an SJ high-speed train you can seamlessly scroll through a plan of the carriages to pick your available seat. But this function isn’t available for sleeper trains or older locomotive-hauled intercity carriages. Live rail times are easy to find, although it’s impossible to check the historic departure/arrival times of trains that finished their journey. The app also gets confused when tracking overnight trains - if a train started its journey yesterday but hasn’t yet arrived, the traffic into page will show you today’s anticipated departure instead.

Delayed trains

Why when a train is delayed, is it not shown as an upcoming departure when looking at a station? Really unhelpful for looking up the data Why I can’t scroll back through recently departed trains either...

Bad payment design feature

Great app in general. But greatly disappointed about the design choice regarding setting up card payment. As a UK card holder I was unable to use letters while specifying my post code. Swedish post codes only use numbers but if you are from a country using letters you wont be able to fill in your details using this app. I solved it by typing my post code in a separate app, then copy/paste. But very disappointing. An app for traveling should be well prepared for tourism. Happy to increase the rating once this has been solved!!

Fantastic

Visited Sweden from the UK for a few days in Småland and travelled up from Copenhagen Airport. Bought our tickets before we arrived so they were all ready to go as soon as we got there. A pleasure to use. My only request would be for the Danish train operator Øresundståg to allow tickets to be added to Apple Wallet as only SJ AB allowed this at the time.

Load of rubbish

SJ - Please move and go elsewhere!
