Description

SkySafari is a powerful planetarium that fits in your pocket, puts the universe at your fingertips, and is incredibly easy to use!

Simply hold your device to the sky and quickly locate planets, constellations, satellites, and millions of stars and deep sky objects. Use Augmented Reality (AR) mode to blend a simulated sky chart with a real view of your surroundings. Or toggle on OneSky to see what other observers are looking at right now.

Packed with interactive information and rich graphics, discover why SkySafari is your perfect stargazing companion under the night sky.

Here's what's new in version 7:

+ Complete support for iOS 17 and iPhone 15. Version 7 brings a new and immersive stargazing experience.

+ OneSky - allows you to see what other users are observing, in real time. This feature highlights objects in the sky chart and indicates with a number how many users are observing a particular object.

+ Sky Tonight - jump to the new Tonight section to see what’s visible in your sky tonight. Expanded information has been designed to help plan your night and includes Moon & Sun info, calendar curations, and the best positioned deep sky and solar system objects.

+ Orbit Mode - Lift off from the Earth and travel to the planets, moons and stars.

+ Guided Audio Tours - Listen to more than four hours of audio narration to learn the history, mythology, and science of the heavens.

+ Galaxy View - Visualize the 3-D location of stars and deep sky objects in our Galaxy the Milky Way.

+ Pronounce - “Yoor-a- nus”, not “Your-anus”? The pronunciation guide in SkySafari will help you learn how to correctly pronounce the names of hundreds of celestial objects from different categories such as stars, constellations and planets.

If you haven't used SkySafari before, here's what you can do with it:

+ Hold your device up, and SkySafari will find stars, constellations, planets, and more! The star chart updates automatically with your real time movements for the ultimate stargazing experience.

+ See an eclipse now, in the past or in the future! Simulate the night sky from anywhere on Earth many years in the past or in the future! Animate meteor showers, comet approaches, transits, conjunctions, and other celestial events with SkySafari’s Time Flow.

Intrusive sound

gomeraman1 on

I can’t find a way to remove the constant sound. This should be a basic setting that is easy to find. I do not want to have to mute my phone for everything to make it stop. Correction - I’ve now found a way, so apologise. Should be silent by default though!

Confusing be careful

richard C.C on

I had the old are SkySafari on my phone for quite awhile, the premium version of that was £24.99 to upgrade , then I saw another version called SkySafari Pro for £24.99, so I thought no brainer just buy the pro version and it’s all there and up-to-date, but then looking for the features I was going to pay for on the normal version and find you still have to pay another £24.99. !! so as far as I can see, the pro version is pretty much like the unpaid for other version apart from maybe a couple of minor things ! I have quite a few other astronomy apps and I found this one very misleading and feel I’ve just wasted £24.99 !

Hidden subscription fee

Disorderlyduck on

The price of the app doesnt include the subscription, which is required to see comets such as C/2022 E3 for example

Disappointed

Barrywales on

I wanted an alternative to SkyPortal to control my telescope. Unfortunately I didn’t notice that it doesn’t include telescope control. I already have that in SkyPortal, so this doesn’t help! Barry, North Wales

So sad

wellfedupuk on

I purchased and spent some time learning how to use Sky Safari, and having become reasonsbly proficient at using it I turn the app on and I am totally unable to recognise the control layout! Why was this change done do Sky Safari customers mean nothing to the software developers? You could have polled people to see how they would have felt a change as drastic as this. I am so p••••d off by this if I had not purchased Sky Safari I would simply delete the app and find another, thanks SkySafari developers for nothing.

No AR for iPad3 otherwise excellent

Blindcrow on

I first end used SkySafari on Mac Book in 2011 and found it a superb way to explore night sky. Bought it to show my grandson used an old iPad 3, I chose it because Augmented Reality is a great tool for youngsters. Nothing in the App description about there features being limited. Please put a warning up have wasted hours looking for nonexistent AR.
