Total inconsistency between the SmartThings  app, Samsung cloud and the tv device, tv is on a network with an account phone is on the same network yet the app interrogates the tv and refuses to accept the tv is on the network that the tv says it is no support for the app, utter rubbish Samsung clearly don’t have the capability to test their wide area and cloud systems yet they lock you into an eco system that fails time and time again, the result is you are prevented from using many of the features that presumably would be quite nice to have like using the phone as a remote, there are probably more yet after 30 years in IT I can not go through the pain of waiting for Samsung to get their act together there have been three upgrades to the app and tv since I started trying to get this darn app to connect to the tv and it doesn’t it took 4 months to renew an annual subscription to frame pictures and, and, and…. If you have not yet messed up and bought a Samsung device don’t I wont recommend a better option but I can tell you if you use smart things with a Samsung frame tv Your in for a pile of frustration!

I have a Frame tv - great hardware, but almost unusable as a smart tv with this app - using it is such a frustrating experience. When it works - i.e. when it deigns to acknowledge that the tv and the iPhone are on the same network, which is only about half the time - it usually doesn’t allow access to Art mode, and when it does it only allows a browse option, with no access to view or upload personal photos or images. The remote functions frequently lock, and it often fails to access the tv altogether if the tv is sleeping or displaying art. Just terrible.

We have this set up for some control of our Samsung TV, but more recently our SMART burglar alarm (Konnected).  It has been unreliable and clearly bug ridden.  We have the app on our iPhones and it’s been configured correctly but doesn’t always work, especially the location services.  It should arm the alarm when everyone (their phones) has left the house and disarm when at least one person has arrived home.  This has been troublesome, not always arming when we are, say, miles away in the car together (with good phone service) or whatever (so we have to arm manually).  Lately it has been arming and disarming okay.  However, this morning it armed when I left and then the alarm started going off with my wife still in the house (it saw her as an intruder) which caused problems and panic.  I guess it’s not seeing her phone’s location even though it has been setup (twice) to do so and she should have been logged in on her app.  Unimpressed!  Our Samsung TVs have been unreliable and so is this!

Prompts you to use mobile rather than tv remote for the TV set up process. Takes you through the nearly the entire process then kicks you out with the famous ‘something went wrong’ message. Then tells you to use the remote control to set the TV up.
