Fraud protection

Logging in
If you’re already registered for online banking, you will need your username, password & 6-digit security code to log in.
If you’re not registered for online banking yet, you can either do this by tapping 'Register for online banking' in the app, or register for online banking on our website.

Device compatibility

For security reasons, you’ll need to be using an Apple device on iOS 15 or above to use our mobile app. You also will not be able to use the app if your device is jailbroken.
If you are not able to update to this version, you can log into online banking to access your accounts instead.

Terms of use
We collect non-personal user data to monitor how well the app works. For example, measuring how long you spend on a particular screen. We collect a limited amount of personal data to allow you to use the app, for fraud prevention purposes & to help us to fix problems & improve the app for everyone. ### ****- "Face ID no longer working"
Good app generally but most recent versions it’s impossible to turn on Face ID on iOS. You can successfully go through the switch on process in app but nothing happens, and the toggle remains untoggled. No matter how many times I try, can’t switch it on. So now much more of a faff to use

We’ve been with Smile Bank for some twenty plus years and always found them brilliant to use. The one gripe we do have is why is their daily payment limit so low at £19.999.99? For example, every year when we want to transfer £20,000 to our ISA account with Interactive Investor, we have to phone Smile to do this. This take up to 30 minutes to go through all their security measures with them. If only they would increase the limit just by a penny we would be able to do this ourselves online in 2 minutes any time we wanted. For this one reason, we are considering changing our joint account to First Direct who have a more sensible limit of £49.999.99.

UK mobile banking apps are woefully poor - Awful UX, limited functionality and difficult to navigate. Look at Post Finance (CH) or UBS (CH) banking app for inspiration of what should be possible in a banking app.

I’ve banked with the Coop for 33 years. I’ve repeatedly given feedback which I’ve never received a reply to. 
Your poor service, your outdated app, the c30 mins I have to sit on the phone to speak to anyone, the difficulty to obtain statements are bad enough, but after 33 years it’s your failure to listen and reply that is leading me to gradually close all of my accounts with you.

It’s good but it would be better if it enabled you to see more than just current credit card transactions like you can with bank account. It’s inconvenient only being able to look at credit card statements via website, not app, and even then only up to 7 months of history (on website).
