Snipd | AI Podcast Player

I wanted to like this, and I do, but not as my main player. The AI features are really neat, but basic issues detailed below have never been ironed out, even though this app is now a few years old. The play queue should sync between devices. As far as I can tell, it doesn’t or doesn’t work. Maybe this only affects a small number of users who move between devices, but as someone who needs a separate work device, the experience of trying to match them up is tedious. There’s also a strange restriction in that episodes in your play queue cannot be manually downloaded while on cellular. Like, why? I often have patchy internet and want to be able to download episodes when I’m able to, or ahead of travel. I can only do that at home.

Snipd has the most engaging UX for curious listeners and offers the best capture tools along with integration with apps like readwise.

I am a software enthusiast and an early adopter of AI as a technology and using AI within our existing software and using it ti help us enjoy our daily consumptions. I was super frustrated with my podcast consuming. I love them but taking notes and working with them was clunky and I couldn’t find a good workflow. I started using Snipd as soon as it was released and have provided feedback and seen the team develop the most amazing app for consuming podcasts and using AI to assist you with taking notes. What’s even more awesome is you can save and automatically sync them with your favourite integrations (mine are Readwise and Notion) and Snipd even have their own little social podcast community you can engage, learn and share with. The iphone app is up to the mark when the app is being used. Major missing are in Dynamic Island and apple car app. Watch app is not there at all. Podcast app has to have thsese three properly developed when you charging so much for a paid sub. I really wonder why watch app is totally missing! Its an app for productivity, but you ll have to bring the phone out everytime you want to use the snip feature. Iphone app is perfect, 3 stars less because of the watch, car and dynamic island poor design.

The AI highlighting “snips” are a game changer in getting more from podcasts. It’s worth noting though that the library management isn’t as smooth as pocket casts, with some simple options notably missing. For example: play all episodes in a filter, or auto download by filter. All together the highlighting upside is enough to get over the familiarity and functionality of pocket casts that I’ve gotten used to.

Excellent execution of an excellent idea. I was constantly taking notes while listening to podcasts but not possible while driving, which is when I mostly listen. This solves that problem. Great app, use it every day.

Exactly what I was looking for.

This app has fantastic features for directed podcast consumption. Unfortunately, the impact on battery is egregious (~1% per 2min playback on newest hardware). This makes it a bit like a luxury roadster with hexagonal wheels: awesome, unless it's moving.

I’ve been listening to podcast for over a decade and I’ve never come across a better app. Now I feel like I need to go back through my old podcasts and create snips and tags to capture the content. Absolutely worth the paid version of you can afford it but the free version is also useful.
