◆◆◆ A new, intuitive and concise user interface ◆◆◆
SonoPhone is designed to leverage the latest iOS design principles:
- Tap or drag the player on the top and you'll find the players view to select a new player and with volume controls for all players. From here you can also enter Zone Management, where you can group and ungroup players with drag and drop.
- Tap or drag the Track infos on the bottom and you'll be at the big covers screen
- Drag the main menu from any place to the left or right to have instant access to playlist or shortcuts
- volume + progress popups: when changing volume or progress of a song, you get popups telling you the actual values. Stop guessing your desired values today!

◆◆◆ less taps for common tasks ◆◆◆
SonoPad tries to optimize most often used tasks to have the least taps needed. In the end you are able to navigate and control your players much more fluently.

- Touch To Play: are you sick of always beeing asked what to do when you tap a track or album? SonoPhone defaults to just starting an album or song. A long press still gives you access to all options - you can also change the tap default in the settings menu. Want to build a playlist fast? Just set the default to 'always add to end' and off you go ...
- tap an album cover image and the whole album starts to play immediately 
- aggregated search: search results are collapsed into one view, so you see immediately in what category you have the best results, without switching back and forth
- shortcuts to most used functions: drag the main menu to the right to get shortcut buttons for artist, albums, radio and musicservices.
- you can control the volume of every player directly from the player selection screen. No need to switch players anymore.

◆◆◆ S1 and S2 devices in one app ◆◆◆◆ 
- If you still have old S1 devices, the time of always having to change apps is over. We simply display all existing players in the network in one list. Grouping is unfortunately not possible, this is prevented by Sonos.

◆◆◆ Limitations ◆◆◆

- all music services except YouTube Music are supported
- no support for administrative features (adding/removing players, music service, ...). You need the official Apps for initial setup of your system, SonoPad will pick up all changes automatically.
- no options to set alarms or sleep settings
- no playing of music stored on iPhone
- no support for discontinued WD100 dock

Found this on a thread from Reddit. I had been doing fine with the app till this past weekend when everything stopped working. Sonos app now showed 2 systems with no way of merging them. Had to reboot every speaker, it took hours. Downloaded SonoPhone and it immediately saw my system, all my music services listed, super intuitive and FAST. Need to use it a bit more, will update to 5 stars if it remains stable.

Since the absolute debacle of the S2 app & update, it’s been a constant struggle to use my Sonos system.  Even something as simple as pausing the music on the official app is 5-10 seconds of lag.  But SonoPhone JUST WORKS, and WORKS FAST.  For $4, now i can use my system that cost hundreds.  While it might be good for Sonos to hire this guy to fix their app and restore the trust of their customers… they’d probably just screw it up.  So please stay independent!  THANK YOU to the developer for creating this.

The app for those of us who love Sonos hardware and who are still shell-shocked (in February 2025!) that the native app is still so slow and buggy. 

There’s one thing missing: if you have Apple Music and hardware capable of lossless and/or Dolby Atmos, the native app will show this in the now playing screen. SonoPhone doesn’t (yet). 

If that happens, trust me, this is a five star, must have app.

As we Sonos owner/users continue to struggle with an app release that has all of the aerodynamic abilities of a lead zeppelin, the creator of Sonophone continues to update his app to work more efficiently without sacrificing features or leaving some users without functionality. If you aren’t able to add your Sonos music libraries using their iOS app (that was there prior to May ‘24), download and install Sonophone for instant relief. It works. Period.

The app is fantastic…when it works. The app controls consistently disappear and I have no way to control the music. Even if I do a hard reset of the app, the music keeps playing. I don’t understand how that is happening. If the app isn’t open, how is the music playing? The music keeps playing on my Sonos speakers with no way to control it even after deleting the app. When i reinstall the app, the controls are visible and I’m able to control my Sonos system again.

It is beyond me how the Sonos corporation can’t have a decent app for their expensive gear, but thankfully this individual made one for us. Fifth star only after the missing features that would allow me to completely delete the Sonos app are added.
Sixth star if everything works for both S2 and S1 devices, including bypassing the grouping limitations imposed by Sonos.

Haven’t written a review in over a decade…. So here goes:  thank you to the devs of this app. Best 4 dollars I’ve spent on the App Store ever.  A controller that just works for my Sonos system.  
I have 11 physical Sonos devices grouped into 7 zones in my house and this app is responsive in a way the main Sonos app hasn’t been since the botched update.  App responds instantly to things like volume and track changes in a way the official app doesn’t.  Grouping and de-grouping is snappy. 
 It makes my Sonos feel like they used to. Thank you thank you thank you.

Finally a responsive and functional way to control a Sonos system.  It’s amazing that this small developer can do what Sonos can’t, but it’s true.  SonoPhone is simple, responsive and it just works - something the official Sonos app can’t claim.  I use Spotify to start playing music and then control everything (groups, volume etc) from SonoPhone, bypassing the Sonos app entirely.

As others have said, this app is just what I’ve needed as I continue to wrestle with the official app - still laggy, fussy, unpredictable after so many months.

For those who say that the issue is with the user or user network, not the official Sonos app, I can only say that for me and my system, this app works perfectly - responsive, predictable, easy to use - and the official one doesn’t. So, I’m not as smart as all the tech folks on line telling Sonos users to look in the mirror, but I’m smart enough to have switched to this app. Worth every penny of $4.
