App experience is terrible. Hardware and software updates are constant and unreliable. App and speakers never sync properly or can see each other. Hopefully Sonos can get their act together quickly as it’s become a terrible user experience.

Terrible system. It’s so broken I cant begin to describe how frustrating and disappointing it is. We used to demonstrate to friends when they come to the house how easy it is with the SONOS app. Now we are embarrassed and inconvenienced by the app and the fuss encountered to get it to what we want. It’s so broken. You need to fire some people and teams to get this fixed. People will move to other systems pretty soon. This market isn’t static.

If you have a mesh WiFi, the Sonos experience will make you regret ever buying into it. 

I want to love Sonos. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to enjoy the experience of Sonos. The app’s UI is great and the speakers are above average for the price, however its biggest appeal, connection via WiFi, is also its biggest downfall. 

Unless you have a single WiFi router, that means a relatively small house, or a unique IP for just your speakers, the speakers will almost never stay connected. You will have to go through the connection setup multiple times. This is a known issue among Sonos’s team and they simply cannot fix it. 

So, if you’re buying it for the WiFi experience, be prepared to be frustrated or connect to a speaker via a LAN cable, which kind of defeats the purpose of a wireless system.

Sonos is one of the worst system ever. My player is delinked from the app for no reason and it’s impossible to set up the player again. Followed instruction and even do a factory reset and the app cannot locate the player on my wifi. Totally rubbish.

Just Google Sonos to see how badly they broke systems with their terrible updates and lies. Set ups that cost customers thousands of dollars are now useless because they can’t connect to Wifi. And if a Sonos system can’t connect to wifi, it doesn’t work. You heard right - AirPlay doesn’t work. Bluetooth doesn’t exist. The app doesn’t work. My own system cost $2300 to set up and is now useless except the soundbar via HDMI - and the surround sound speakers don’t work. All of it is speakers bought brand new within the past three years. Last month the company said they had fixed everything and all was fine. This was a lie. Forums are filled with furious clients. Sonos deserves to go bankrupt from its betrayal of loyal customers.

You are genuinely 1000% better off buying a much cheaper Sony, Samsung, Bose, ANY OTHER BRAND home speaker system. It will cost much, much less. And at least you can listen via Bluetooth.

To the company: shame on you and your senior managers. I have read the reports that your engineers warned you this would happen but you ignored them chasing new revenue and profits. All of you deserve to be made into HBR case studies so that your names live in infamy as the what-not-to-do executives.

This new Sonos app is just unreliable. You can be enjoying a song and suddenly it dropped off in one room or just stopped playing totally. But of course on the app it still show that it is playing. Most disappointing for a sound system that I have invested much into.

I wanted to enjoy and love the Sonos experience, but unfortunately its biggest pull is also its biggest drawback. The system’s over-reliance on the app and WiFi massively hinders the experience. 

The app crashes often. It regularly fails to do simple tasks like setting up an alarm. 

I wish I never bought into the ecosystem, because if the app fails, everything in the house fails. 

The Sonos experience makes me miss good ol’ cables. 

I gave it a 2-star because the idea is good, but like most things in life, poor execution is what we remember.

Even af the recent updates, factory resets and reinstallation the app-to-sonos connection is still terribly bad. It keeps disconnecting, some controls are unreliable (eg volume), integration with Spotify has become worse and more.
