## SoundBow Description
SoundBow is a drawing based music instrument with a clean and simple visual interface. You can create music by drawing curves over the screen with lines and gestural movements. Apart from drawing, you can rescale your instrument by moving graphical elements around. Record your own sounds through the microphone and start creating melodies, soundscapes with your own voice. If you wish, you can also export your composition as an audio file.

"Touch-based mobile devices allowed interactive, gesture-based music production to hit the masses. So far, this type of musical creation hasn't exactly taken the world by storm. But SoundBow, a drawing-based musical instrument app, should shake things up a little bit with its clean, minimal visual interface and mesmerizing potential for complex, loop-based music production." - The Creators Project

"Binaura bring their beautiful SoundBow app to iOS at last. It is a gorgeous instrument with huge possibilities for expression and creativity. I think that in many ways these are the kinds of apps that iOS was made for." - Palm Sounds

SoundBow is made with free and open source tools. The interface is built with OpenFrameworks. The sound engine is made with SodaLib, a free Data Sonification Library built on top of libPd (Pure Data).

## SoundBow Reviews in United States

### ***** "Love Forever"
I got this beauty on launch and it still
thrills me
-- Ben Efitofadoubt, 2022-09-04

### ***** "Beautiful"
Amazing. Please try to add more lines to make it possible to sound like Steve reich and little more dynamic feedback would be nice
-- monkey man 10000, 2020-12-15

### ***-- "A cute toy instrument, but..."
It isn’t much of a useful musical tool, since it lacks:

loading a sample from an audio file, not just recording the microphone

MIDI file export rather than only audio renders (or even better, routing midi to another app)

save/recall
-- Nbdg, 2019-08-10

### ***** "Amazing sounds!"
From something so simple. One complaint though. Why does the big light gray disk appear when you touch close to one end of a string 1) preventing playing closer to the end of the string and 2) It’s wasting time, and is frustrating, to have to keep putting the string end back to where it was. I’ve already gotten my monies worth with the sounds I’ve milked out of the app. Good idea nicely done! Needs to support landscape mode. In the YouTube video, where are those other screens with verbiage and dynamic graphics? Needs to save your drawings. Should also play in the background.
-- Eriptron, 2018-09-23

### ***** "yes!"
favorite music art app in a long time. makes me feel as though i'm in a cave painting the walls. great!
-- Bansith, 2017-06-06

### ***** "Easy interestingness"
That's what this app excels at. If you want a beat machine, look elsewhere. If you want a tool to help generate melodies and rhythms you might not play on your own, you're in luck!
-- Wįll, 2016-11-26

### ****- "Getting used to it"
Has potential, but it would be nice to save arrangements of the strings. I use long draws in between the strings with sound #3. That sound is great, but the percussion is really chafing. Looking forward to working with Audiocopy. All you have to do is name and save it with Audiocopy, though it will show a download/upload option with that app and a lot of others. Will re-review in a month and try it with a few more apps. One redeeming quality is the list of suggested apps to work with, as I have not known of several.

### *---- "I wish i hadn't"
Wish I hadn't bought this game because I spent two dollars on it and I have to say that wasn't two dollars well spent
-- Kat the 🐱, 2016-06-14

### *---- "Not enough substance"
Only 3 sound options including your voice and costs 2 dollars? This should be a free game to be honest. If they added more to the game I would pay more but at this moment in time it is incredibly laggy and there are only 3 options of sound: bongos, water droplets, and voice. If I had it my way I would ask for a refund.
-- Jacob9173839, 2016-06-13

### ****- "Novel GUI"
The app works great for creating interesting rhythms and melodies using simple touches. The ability to simultaneously control other synths via MIDI is very welcome.

It would be nice if the developers could add preset saving, IAA functionality, and AudioShare too.
