Confortable app, still displaying ads even after subscribing
The app is very confortable and well designed to read on iPad. Nonetheless it’s very disappointing to still see advertisements even after subscription 🙁

This used to be an excellent news source for Chinese and international news alike. I used to consult it several times a day. A recent update made it unacceptably slow and unwieldy. Now I hardly even open it once a week, and I do that only in the vain hope that they restored it to an acceptable quality. Update: I wrote the text above one year ago. It still applies, and my impression is that it recently got worse with each update.
Landscape mode no more supported
Dec 2018. New version of the app is beautifully designed with fluid and intuitive navigation. I also enjoy receiving news alerts on my Apple Watch. As a Hong Kong resident for many years, I can confidently say that SCMP remains the best media to get unbiased news from Hong Kong and China offering in-depth articles.
Handy but too many ads
the articles are full of meaningless information and sentences, just to make them look longer, wasting time to filter
A lot of the articles written by Jeoffrey Maitem and Maria Siow have a strongly pro Filipino and anti Chinese bias. This is a very odd editorial choice.
The SCMP has become a tool for censorship and a platform for pro-Beijing trollers to post misinformation, disinformation, deceitful and disrespectful comments about Hong Kongers, democracy and other democratic nations (90% WolfWarriors). Opinions by SCMP columnists have frequently posted biased reports that promotes hate on Hong Kongers and democratic countries. Disrespectful, deceitful, misinformation and disinformation postings in the comment sections by Pro-Beijing Communist trollers often get ignored, despite their comments being reported. However, reviewers who have retaliated against the offensive posts by CCP trollers often get deleted and censored. This is the very definition of double standards. The SCMP has now become far from independent or impartial. I'm about to delete and discontinue use of this newspaper app. You have been warned about this biased media outlet.
I hate opening this app. Every time I’m greeted with a 5 second ad - if I’m on free then that’s fine but this is hardly acceptable on a paid edition.
I'd rather pay a little more in my subscription than use an app with full screen ads on timers. It's unusable for me and I will use my web browser instead.
