🚨 BEWARE of Speechify – A Subscription Scam 🚨
I want to share my extremely frustrating experience with Speechify, so others don’t fall into the same trap.
I was charged €149.99 for a subscription I never signed up for, never used, and never even knew existed until I saw the transaction on my bank statement. No confirmation emails, no notifications, no consent—just money taken from my account.
When I reached out to Apple, they denied my refund request, saying it didn’t meet their conditions. Speechify, on the other hand, refuses to provide ANY proof of my subscription—no details on which account, which device, which IP, or when it was activated. Instead, they are just blaming Apple. But let’s be clear—Apple took the money for Speechify, and Speechify is the one receiving it.
To make things worse, I’m now seeing that I’m not alone—many people have reported similar unauthorized charges. This is a clear pattern of deceptive subscription practices.
⚠️ If you’re considering Speechify, think twice. Don’t risk waking up to an unexpected charge with no way to get your money back. I am taking public action to expose this and filing official complaints with consumer protection agencies in both the EU and the US.

Doesn’t work
Sadly it doesn’t work, I don’t know why there are many good reviews. It just reads few words, then stops, loading for few minutes, then few words, again stops. And this is how the whole text goes. I tried all ways, internet connection is good but the app just doesn’t work. Also customer service is very slow and complicated.
ABOMINATION OF AN APP
Never have i ever spent so much time trying to actually get through all the adds, pop-ups, irrelevant questions and so many ways to make you pay for premium experience. I literally just wanted to a simple tts app that can read me text, but now, i have an app that will bomb me with pop-ups and adds and will try to make me pay for premium experience every time i click anything. Disgusting concept. I miss how internet was back in the day.

This app is fraud and after premium cancelation during free trial it still tries to charge card. Be very carefull!

The app was good to use until they made the choosing your own reading speed a premium feature. Now it is basically unusable if you are not willing to pay the price for premium which is a shame. Creators greed made such a great app unusable for those who cannot afford to pay like college students on a budget. Like I said, shame.
I want to ask for an upgrade
Since I am Lithuanian there is no Lithuanian language I tried reading Lithuanian books but there is no use whit a US voice..
