SprintTimer - Photo Finish

Professional Sports Timer

Published by: Sten Kaiser

Description

The most advanced sports timer in the AppStore!
Featured by Apple in the TV-ad "Strength".
SprintTimer is a unique sports timer and photo finish app that employs the same techniques as the fully automatic timing equipment (FAT) used at the Olympics. Start the timer and point the camera towards the finish line. The app creates an image where you can scroll to get the time for each competitor with a 0.01 s accuracy*. SprintTimer also includes a motion/human-activated Video Finish for longer races and a Start Sender for wirelessly controlling SprintTimer from another device.
SprintTimer is used by coaches, teachers, and athletes all over the world for practice and competition in, for example, track & field, cycling, skiing, speed skating, car racing, rowing, kayaking, horses or greyhound racing.
SprintTimer has several advantages over a manual stopwatch:
- One person can time all participants
- Higher accuracy*
- Easier to determine the order
- The image and the results can be saved
- Can operate "hands-free" when started
- The timer can be started manually, with a sound, or remotely from another device

SprintTimer Reviews

Sprint Timer

This app has given us peace I mean peace of mind in dealing with queries. The only thing if it can just allow viewing in some instances to move slower across the finish line instead of skipping to be able to mark some athletes especially when they Cross almost at the same time separated by sub seconds. But I love it

Very User Friendly

This app is very user friendly and versatile. It can be used for school track events instead of stop watches and place judges. Experiment with it to see which settings work best for you.

Worst SprintTimer app!!

What they don’t tell you when describing the app is that it is soooo difficult to use and not user friendly at all. You need to have at least a Harvard degree to understand this SprintTimer app!!

Brilliant!

Very clever. Works for everything from timing the kids running on the beach to major sporting events.

Crashes

ChiefPlaceJudge on

South Africa

The app crashed every time on the ipad during the most important events and then it lost the video recorded, making us look like clowns.

Absolutely great

If you have a track team, get this app. I’ve been around tracks for fifty years. I’ve never seen anything else so affordable that’s even close. Works wonderfully. Every time.

Not FAT

Spankingspears on

This is not fully automatic timing and you should not be marketing it as such. Even the photos you are using as your examples are no where near the finish line. This is a joke and those that fall for it are nothing more then the jokers in a deck with no aces.

Great app

This is a great app, but I suggest a tweak which could make it even better. I suggest adding the record feature to include the start (actually just prior) along with a function to slide the start time to coincide with the initial movement of the runner. Currently, it’s either eyeballed or sound based, but either way determined by the operator’s finger tapping start. Post start, Operator would then rotate the camera to line up with the finish line. Once the sprint is completed, the sprint time differential would be calculated based on the adjusted beginning clock time when the runner began the start. What I love about this app is that it removes 50% of the variables by recording the end of the sprint. If you can similarly record the start as well, this would effectively replace many of the laser systems which are very expensive.

Love this app

We use this for our home track meets. Started as the back up of the back up, then it became the back up, and now it is our main timing system and we use stopwatches as a back up. With a common start and such accuracy, I now cringe every time I see a team timing their meets with individual stopwatches. I have shared this with 3 other local schools who now use it at their meets as primary timing or a back up for their FAT system. No more scrambling to get high school kids or parents to time a meet!
