Description

Spyglass is an essential offline GPS app for outdoors and off-road navigation. Packed with tools it serves as binoculars, heads-up display, hi-tech compass with offline maps, gyrocompass, GPS receiver, waypoint tracker, speedometer, altimeter, Sun, Moon and star finder, gyro horizon, rangefinder, coordinate converter, sextant, inclinometer, angular calculator and camera. It saves your custom places and waypoints, navigates precisely to them later, shows them on maps and using real-time augmented reality displays detailed GPS info, measures distances, sizes, angles, and does a lot more.

COMPASS & GYROCOMPASS

Accuracy improvement techniques, special compass modes and calibration methods available in Spyglass only make it a real instrument – the most advanced and accurate digital compass.

FINDER, TRACKER & AR NAVIGATION

Spyglass operates in 3D and uses augmented reality to show real-time object positions, info and directions to them overlaid over camera or maps.

Save current position, add points from maps, manually enter location coordinates and bearings, add stars by hand or use a built-in star catalogue.

Find saved places and objects later simply by following directional arrows.

Spyglass tracks multiple targets simultaneously and shows their info – distance, direction, azimuth, elevation and estimated time of arrival.

Find and track your location and get detailed real-time GPS data – coordinates in dozens of formats, altitude, course, current, maximum and vertical speed, using imperial, metric, nautical and surveying units.

OFFLINE MAPS

See your and targets’ positions on maps using different map styles and alternative map providers – plan waypoints and measure distances. Offline maps optimized for retina displays are available for download.

TRACK STARS, SUN AND MOON & NAVIGATE BY STARS

Track positions of stars, Sun and Moon with arc second precision – use them as a reference to calibrate compass for maximum accuracy.

OPTICAL RANGEFINDER

Measure distances to objects in real time with a rangefinder reticle similar to sniper sights.

SEXTANT, ANGULAR CALCULATOR AND INCLINOMETER

Find out heights of objects and distances to them – measure visually and calculate dimensions and distances.

Awesome app

Easy to understand and very helpful very nice a big thumbs up

Maybe I don’t get it

This app has a lot of great features and potential but I think you need to have a good idea of how this kind of tool works before you start. I did not. The manual is helpful in some cases and impenetrable or incomplete in others; functions are definitely not intuitive. The display can be much improved, especially for those of us who need reading glasses. The arrows are too similar - the “primary target” big arrow should be more easily distinguished, maybe a different colour. The “hints” are microscopic. Terminology is confusing: Why is there a “primary target” and a “location target” pointer that point in different directions? I don’t know what the system has decided is the “location target” but it isn’t the place I want to go next. The manual explains it but it doesn’t make it any clearer. Going through the “manage locations” menu for so many things like changing to the next location is tedious when I’m moving between 15 locations in a short time frame. Also, the name of the location that is currently being tracked should appear on the display. I will keep working with this but I will also look at other similar apps.

You are able to set way points and then navigate back to them even if off line. The gyro-compus calibration works great with the sun! Highly recommended.

Brilliant

I've only begun to explore the full capability of this amazing app. I was installing temperature and soil moisture sensors across several of my experiments, and recorded each one as a waypoint in Spyglass. The app then showed me, on a GoogleEarth image, where each one was with stunning accuracy, allowing me to gauge their relative positions and plan where to install the next one. Within the app I photographed each one with positional information overlaid on the images. I emailed the waypoints from within the app to my team members so that they could see and find the equipment using their iDevices. I can see that Spyglass will do other things, such as allow me to measure the heights of trees ( I am a forest scientist), layout experimental plots, and so on. It may seem a strange adjective for software, but this is a beautiful app. The rendering has been carefully sorted out and it is a joy to use. I highly recommend SpyGlass to anyone who hikes, walks, lays out experiments, farms, hunts, fishes, in short, anyone who wants to find their way, establish their global position and store points in a useful and easily visible format.

Great app

Amazing amount of features. Great for finding any geo coordinates. Also great for geocaching if you know the coordinates.

Excellent app. Very versatile tool. Used the free Commander Compass app for a while but very glad I bought the Spyglass app
