Used to be fun, but the new business model is: create New Thing, sell Other Thing that will defeat New Thing and nothing else. Ignore all previous New Things. Repeat monthly. Non-PVP play was fun for a while but even if you do occasionally get New Thing, there’s little to no support for it after the first month that it’s on sale and it will just sit unused collecting space dust. Also, Do Not expect to compete in PVP unless you’re spending thousands of dollars. Now it’s a shameless cash grab that requires minimum of 100 dollars a month to keep up. Played for 4 years and dropped it like a bad habit now. The formula now is new ship, new building, loop/refinery on 3 month repeat cycle. And the Galaxy quest update required you to buy the ship to even experience the content of that arc. Scopely responded saying that the ship was completely optional to access the arc from August. That is a blatant lie. The new content was in zones that you could not be in without purchasing the ship. They sold the developer saying you could play the content without spending money at release is a lie and deceptive marketing. Checked back 8 months since original review. And still stand by review. Do not buy. Scopley now puts out game content expansion updates but doesn’t test them for glitches. The glitches include, crashes, freezes, game commands not working, play not working as it should, screen/graphics issues and the litany goes on. Scopley doesn’t fix them. Then they come out with another content expansion without testing and and has its own glitches. These have been compounding for a year or so now and they don’t bother to fix them. The glitches are so bad anymore most players of the game have to restart every 5 to 10 minutes. If you do play, I recommend that you do so as a free to play account. Spending any money on a game that creates headaches is not wise. I’ve been playing for a couple years now and it is slowly going down hill with the quality of play.
