Star Walk 2 Reviews

Not as Good as Version 1

MidnightMinstrel on

One of the great things about version 1 , was the ability to just pinch and expand in whatever region you wanted ( N,S,E,W) and you would see unfold before your eyes Galaxies and Nebulae and other objects that was there in that region you were looking at , and it would tell you in green writing what that object was, then you press the little green (i) for more info about it.But you can’t do that in this version. I preferred that way of finding things in part of the sky you chose to look at. So I’ve gone back to Version 1 tbh.

Clumsy

Limegreentangerine on

The app has become very clumsy and complicated and the company's desperation for payment has now usurped the priority on quality. I'm all for developments, but it has lost its way and is now too complicated to identify the basics. It just needs a very basic filter and a simple version for simple gazing. I'm guessing that some investors came on board and are now scrambling for their return. Such a shame.

If I could give this app 10 stars I would, but don’t worry, inside it’s got allllll the stars it will ever need. It’s such an outstanding app and one I use every single time I go out to set up my scope, it even helps me plan the evenings imaging as well and that is very helpful. Iv been an astronomer/astrophotograher now for a very long time and this app is worth every penny. Iv had this app now for a long time and I have a lot of experience with it, and I love it. You can tell that a lot of time and effort has gone in to making this what it is, and has a heck of a lot of features you can use, it works on multiple levels weather you’re using it like I do or you just wanna know what’s up, and it’s knowledge base is impressive, and keeps you fully up to date on what’s going on, as a learning platform, this is perfect. You can view objects close up, check em out, turn em round etc and the planet view is amazing. There are a a lot of settings you can use so you can fully customize your app to what you want, including viewing the sky in multiple spectrums, increasing or decreasing the starfield which is very helpful if you’re after a specific target or to match the sky you’re currently looking at😎. The graphics are beautiful, and the way in which the app has been designed makes it so easy to use, and also what I like is that you can have night mode turned on, which allows you to look at the app and it not affect your night vision, or disturb anyone else you may be with who’s imaging(unwanted light source). Seriously if you’re looking for the perfect app for observing or imagine etc, look no further. I highly recommend this app, it’s perfect for anyone, beginner or expert, or just getting to know the stars. Star Walk2, you absolutely nailed it.

Excellent app for a budding star gazer! So intuitive and easy to identify celestial objects

Great App

I’ve had this app since purchasing an iPad way back in 2013. It has developed and expanded over the years, but is still very good. Clear graphics. Plenty of information. Easy to use and not too daunting for a beginner or anyone wishing to encourage a child’s interest in the night sky. On the downside, I am rather surprised that an astronomy app gives any “publicity “ to that pesky star link!

Best stargazing app

Brilliant features, flawless scrolling. Couldn’t fault.

Utterly amazing

LeeSFoster on

I’ve had this app for many years. It’s incredible how much information is available and the ease with which you’re able to make use of it. The flexibility of how much detail you want to see on screen really helps you to focus on specific things or just look in wonder at everything going on above your head (and under your feet). The interface is beautifully designed to be useful but not intrusive. The information about everything is written in a way most people can enjoy without over complicating. I’d definitely recommend the app and getting the additional information packs too. I’ve never once regretted the purchase. I was astonished to see so many 1 star reviews stating the most pathetic of reasons so I felt compelled to make it clear that before leaving reviews, make sure you know what you’re talking about as it makes you look foolish when the app does what you claim it doesn’t or you expect more than it was designed to do.
