Really good to plan your night viewing if only it would control the weather too 😀
This is an amazing resource. I am still only getting use to its features but to be able to explore the skies above in past present and future modes is fantastic. I knew what I wanted to look for in the skies above but didn’t know if it was possible without years of study knowledge. This app makes it happen !!! Brilliant Thank you!!!
It’s so cool how you can see which stars are which and which constellations they show. This is a great app to look at the stars and figure out which stars are which.

I’ll start by saying that this app really is great, it streamlines star gazing in a very intuitive app, and I was so pleased with it that I ended up buying the premium version (which is it a very affordable price, might I add) however, it has some notable flaws first off, although the premium version does have a pretty huge collection of stars and galaxies, I’ve noticed there are a good number of stars specifically that are just not present or are missing alternative labels There are no stars from the Frank Ross catalogue that have their Ross catalogue names assigned to them. For instance, the red dwarf Ross 128 does not appear in the search unless you go and search the alternative designations for it online and then put those into the search instead. Not tremendously convenient, if you ask me. There are a number of other catalogues and designations missing as well, including Groombridge, the WR Wolf-Rayet catalogue, the Gum nebula catalogue, the RCW nebula catalogue, Trumpler objects, Collinder designations, and likely some others too. I realize that I listed a lot there, but integrating even a few of these other catalogues would eliminate a lot of frustration. On a side note, the app absolutely drains through battery, even when using the lowest possible battery settings. On my year and a half to two year old phone I can go out with close to 60 or 70% battery and be down to single digits in a little over an hour. Sure, I could bring my phone out with more charge, but I also think that there surely has to be some way to optimize the app a bit better for battery life across the board. None of this is to discount the good of the app of course, as I mentioned previously I do really love having this app to use for my telescope excursions. I would very much like for the less than stellar (forgive the pun) spots to get more polish.
It can help with star gazing, and locating stats that you might not have expected to see there, and you can see the future locations of the stars and planets too, which is great!
It’s a good app b/c you can see stuff really close 💥
I now know where stars are and I can take pictures of them! I also know most constellations by heart (Cygnus, Aquarius, Ursa Major, Centaurus, & Andromeda) and I also know the purpose of constellations! Thank you Stellarium.
Purchased the Pjus version several year ago. At the time due to health difficulties was unable to attend Star Parties. Last night used it at a Club Star party and was not impressed. Could clearly see the Jovian moons in my Telescope and Binoculars. Zoomed in to show the names but the app didn't show them. Another club member had an app that showed the moons. Restarted the app and tried again still did not show the moons. Contacted customer support and the respondent said to zoom in. That was the first thing I did. What a waste of money $18.99 doesn't even work properly. Eventually fixed the problem by downloading Sky Safari and uninstalled Stellarium.
