Story Planner for Writers

I really like many aspects of this app. One feature I would love to see added is a flexible drag-and-drop visual timeline for organizing and visualizing plotlines against a chronological timeline. This could help flesh out a story's plot structure and be very useful for detecting storyline holes early in the plotting phase.

Overall an amazing app that helps organize and gather my thoughts. A few VERY minor things bother me, but because the app is so good I can deal with it. I even use it to create families. Maybe something that helps with that can be added in the future?

So first of all I really do enjoy this app. I’ve been using it I think for a couple of years now for multiple of my stories. I’ve always used it on both my iPad and my iPhone. I just came back to it after not using it for a few months and the sync between my iPad and iPhone no longer works. Both devices are fully updated and I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling the app. I’ve also tried turning the sync on and off on both devices but that hasn’t fixed it. I want to keep using it but it’s a little inconvenient now that I only use it on my phone because of the sync issue. Would really love to see this fixed.

Was my favourite writing app, but now it crashes whenever I try to open it. I have an iPhone 13 with ios15. This is very frustrating. Please fix

Not as detailed as I thought it would be for the price. Pretty basic outline stuff that anyone could come up with themselves. Doesn’t really make you think deeper and doesn’t give any writing tips other than basic definitions. I really hate that you can only add one picture for characters and settings. Just gives you a section for “scenes” that you can add in but doesn’t give you any structure for how a story is written. Seems like it is more for playwriting than any type of novel or story. Basically $8 for things you could have just written in a notebook but I suppose it does help with organizing things digitally if you’re not into writing things down.

I really want to like this app but fighting sync every single time I want to switch devices is killing it for me. It’s not iCloud. The new file is there and it’s downloaded but the app insists on opening the previous version until I move the new file around so the app “notices” there’s a new file. It’s a constant time sink and aggravation. Edit: I give up. Nothing will make it sync. Had to request a refund as there is no point having this on more than one device until sync works.

I think it’s a great app! It does everything it says it would. It does have some spelling errors though. For a writing app, I would expect no grammatical errors. Also, it would be nice if it allowed a section to display the kind of relationship specific characters share. But still good app.

It needs work. Like, I feel a dedicated “Sync” button would fix this. I have to use the “Sync Problems” help page every single day. Furthermore, after “fixing” the syncing, I end up with all the items in the “Tension” list duplicated by three. This is despite following the help page exactly. I even tried deleting the Project from all other devices except one. Same thing. Please, please, fix this. Other than that, a suggestion would be to allow us to add a Image (like, say, a Poster) for the Project.

I am just getting into it, and I love this app. It suits my needs really well and I find other writing software a bit overwhelming since I am a beginner. I am more of an artist than a writer and many of the outline features are exactly what I need for hitting story beats that I can quickly see altogether, I don’t need formatting for writing a huge novel which most writing apps put at the forefront. Love this app for organizing all of my characters, major scenes, and tabbing between my different projects very easily. I would really love a video tutorial that goes through using all of the features in real time :) It’s intuitive now that I have it open and can muddle around, but I do love a good tutorial to make sure I’m not missing any cool features lol.

Every time I close and reopen the program, part of what I’ve written goes missing.
