StoryGraph: Reading Tracker

I am so happy with Storygraph. I switched from Goodreads a year ago and have no intention on ever leaving. The product development and iteration on features is fantastic. Love the transparency of the creators and how much they listen to community feedback.

Let’s start with the good thing: being able to rate books half stars. I don’t know why other apps (goodreads) can’t seem to implement this but glad to see it is possible. NOW… please tell me how people herald this app for its recommendations when at least one in every five books it tries to recommend to me is one with a half naked man on the cover? What in my recently read books gave you the impression I’d be remotely interested in that. The out of your comfort zone picks are surprisingly mostly all well within my comfort zone so also inaccurate. None of this is due to a lack of data, I’ve imported over 300 books from goodreads. Additionally you can search on moods which, I don’t know, I’ve never felt a need for. For me, it makes the app annoying to use and cluttered, but if you like to very specifically narrow down what book you want to read next StoryGraph is for you! Also this is maybe just a me thing but I dislike how the app looks like a website, it’s all the same colour with no clear distinguishing differences between different areas on the screen.

I use this app on IPad and sometimes the app just stops scrolling. I like features of this tracker but it’s very annoying when it suddenly stops working and I need to reopen it.

Love the app! The concept is really great and I love seeing how much it’s improved over the past year! Mg only suggestion is to add the rating to the top of the page but other than that I love it!

I was hoping I’d found an alternative to Amazon-owned GoodReads, but this app unfortunately disappointed me. The AI-based recommendations are not at all: “This is a great match (according to whom?) for readers interested in X and Y.” Really any book with a similar topic to something I’ve read could be a good match, according to the app. That’s not how it works.

cute app but i haaaaate the layout of the book pages. sure maybe yall dont want it to be a carbon copy of goodreads, but when im in the bookstore i just wanna see the overall rating and the reviews. i do not care about what % of people thought it was fast paced or slow paced or if there’s strong character development. these markers mean nothing to me and maybe it should be customizable if you want them to show at all. id rather skip to people’s written reviews where they’ll tell me a lot more about their reading experience than these markers. a perfectly paced book could still be icky you know. it almost feels like the app makers want to force me to care about more than just the rating. BUT I DONT!

Love all the features the app offers! However navigating is sometimes a bit counter-intuitive and i would love a bit more of a ‘cozy’ feel to it.

I like the app, I use it almost everyday. However it closes unexpectedly a lot, also sometimes after I force quit the app, I open it and the screen keeps loading or is just blank. The graphs are great, the challenges I like, the recommendations are to me not that special

I have been using this app for almost 3 years now. Being a long time Goodreads user - I have left it for StoryGraph and never looked back. It is versitle, flexible (you can rate a book 4.25, for example!) and the stats are fun :) I also love how open and accesible the founder is - always transperant about current and future plans for the app, and always welcome suggestions. LOVE IT!!!

I love that Storygraph provides a valid alternative to the Amazon-owned Goodreads. The app keeps getting better, the creators are adding new features regularly, and—let’s be honest, an app like this doesn’t need a thousand bells and whistles.
