The best strength training program app out there

Functions as it should. Love the ability to swap out exercises. Well thought out macro cycles. This is the real deal!

Great App and programming.

Programming has been amazing. I’m already seeing progress. Love that there are demos, substitutions, and demos of the subs. I do occasionally have to sign back in but that isn’t a huge issue to me. I like that the app shows what weight I did previously and gives me the option to look back on it in the journal. I took advantage of the sale but will gladly pay full price when this year is up. Only regret is I didn’t sign up sooner.

This app is so perfect

I’ve been using this for only a few days, but I feel like it was made for me. 47yo female, been working out my entire life. I used to do HIIT classes, but they are expensive and don’t give me muscles. I am familiar with all of theses exercises, but I need the video tutorial, I need the prescribed units and sets, I need the tracking and I found it all in the same place! This makes it so I don’t have to think hard about what to do, what I have done or feel like I am not sure I am doing it right. It answers all my questions and is the most amazing workout tool I have ever used. Thank you for this!!!

Love!!

I’ve been trying out apps and programs from other fitness folks (via IG) for the past couple years, but SBTD is the winner for me! When I got bored with programming my own workouts, I would float towards a fitness program built by a famous IG fitness influencer, but there’s usually no overarching theme except a bigger 🍑 or “weight loss.” While those are both valid fitness goals, they’re not for me anymore, especially when the program is static and has nothing more to offer past 6 weeks of time. I wanted a program that really pushed me, made me stronger in all muscle groups, had consistent programming that was being put out week by week, and had a library of exercises to substitute for things I don’t have in the garage gym. I absolutely love love love SBTD because the progrsssive overload and overarching themes for each macrocycle, like Buff is Beautiful and Deadlift Queen. I also really love how I can switch up my weekly workouts anywhere from 3-5 days, and there are gif/videos and written how-to’s for each exercises. I have seen more strength gains in the last 3ish months since I started using SBTD than I have in a long time using any other app/program since my back injury back in 2022. Thank you SBTD team for making my gains a reality!!🎉💜

I was a ride or die until the deadlift queen macrocycle

Let me say I am a SBTD GIRLY! I only use Buff Chick supplements and follow the app RELIGIOUSLY. Truly SBTD has been pivotal in my fitness journey. However, I have found the the Deadlift Queen macrocycle is very infeasible and pays little mind to those of us who use public gyms. A lot of the supersets require entirely different pieces of equipment which is not conducive to a public gym setting and honestly encourages the bad gym etiquette we all hate. In addition, it seems every day is full body day? Which is also just unrealistic. Meg, your girls work, we have to have splits that allow us to target muscle groups on certain days. Not just for strengthening purposes but for feasibility purposes. It’s just not realistic to jump from bench, to deadlifts, to free weights all within 1 set. As a whole I give SBTD 4/5 stars. But I give deadlift queen a solid 3/5, this cycle just ain’t it. If you’re thinking about joining, join on the next cycle.

My workout BFF since 2021!!

I’ve been using this app consistently for years now, with time off for unrelated injuries, but I’m always excited to get back into it! The app makes selecting weights so easy based on last time you did the exercise, and it lets you know when you’re ready to increase your weight. It’s also super easy to substitute an exercise. To all the regular folks who think this isn’t for them, it ABSOLUTELY IS!! I’m not a powerlifter, (but I bet this app would be great for them too). I’m a 44yo woman with chronic pain from a hyper mobility disorder (weightlifting is best to support my joints) and I want to keep my strength and bone density as I age. So far so great! I mostly do the express routine at the gym, but if I need a little less intensity I can stay home and do the home workout. Even the express, I put in an hour 4 days a week. I’ve seen lots of progress over the past couple of years. I recommend this app to everyone, whether you’re looking to get jacked or age well with strong bones and muscles!

Love this app

This app is so good. Easy to use and great workouts

love it

got the yearly subscription - only a month or so in and i'm still really enjoying the programming. i would've given up on any other program by now, but i like how this one tells me why certain workouts are prescribed and how exactly to do them. can't wait to see my progress in a year from now :)

Nothing good to say

Akidler on

United States

1) The subscription is in-app, not through your device’s store. This makes the payment and cancellation an entirely different process than most apps, and then when you want to cancel they force you to fill out a survey first. 2) A lot of the workouts are not doable in a regular gym, supersetting things that require entirely different equipment. There’s so much band work and my gym doesn’t have bands, and a lot of the offered replacements are workouts I’m already doing. 3) The app itself is clunky. I suppose because they really want you to go in the prescribed order but once you start a workout it’s cumbersome to flip back and forth between the exercises because they’re each on their own page. 4) I also sprained my back my first day using the workout plan, even though I’d been lifting for 18 months without any injuries at that point. Of course there’s some user error but it’s enough to steer me away.
