This app will help you to detect studs. It uses the magnetometer to measure the magnetic field when your iPhone is placed near any metal objects. You can quickly detect wood studs hidden under walls, drywall, plasterboard or stucco.
DISCLAIMER: The performance of the app is limited by the construction of the wall, presence of a phone cover and/or the material of the nails in the studs.
INSTRUCTIONS: If your device has an external case then please remove it before using this app.

Pretty good!
Not as good as an actual stud finder but it works! Here’s something that I hope helps. Take a nail or something metal, and hold it still in one hand. Set your sensitivity to 50%. Slowly move your phone forward towards the nail till it beeps. Take note of how far away it was. Consider also the thickness of the wall the paint, etc as you readjust the sensitivity. Try it again till you get a close-ish approximation of how far you’d be holding your phone from an actual stud in the wall. For me it turned out at 80%. Saw for some it turns out to work at 70-75%. But every phone and every wall is different. Measured several sections of wall and marked each point my phone beeped. Sure enough it formed a pretty even pattern and vertically every stud was around 16 inches apart. Not bad!
Nothing shortof amazing.
Will be buying full version to support the developer, but this is a really great app and was able to find studs that were behind plywood and Drywall with the app. Just had to turn the sensitivity up.
Nope
Not for the novice

I’m so thankful for the creators of this app. It worked very well!
Don’t waste your time
This app does not work. I would rather go to Home Depot and buy one that really works.

I was trying to put something in for our curtain and it kept finding a stud, but then it would keep finding studs when I wasn’t even aiming it at the wall
