Find a line of fasteners and you have found the stud. HOW IT WORKS Your iPhone's magnetic sensor reacts to iron and steel. Slide the phone slowly across the wall: when it passes over a drywall screw, nail or other steel object, the reading jumps and the app alerts you. The app does not see wood, plastic or copper wiring directly — it finds the metal fasteners in the studs. WHAT'S INCLUDED Magnetic Metal Detection Live magnetic field strength in microtesla (μT) with a gauge that rises as you get closer to a screw or nail. (Premium subscription required) Sound & Haptic Alerts Hear a beep and feel a vibration the moment metal is detected, so you can keep your eyes on the wall. TIPS FOR BEST RESULTS - Remove magnetic cases and MagSafe accessories, and keep away from speakers and large metal objects. - Move slowly and keep the phone flat against the wall. - Mark each hit, then look for a vertical line of fasteners — that is your stud. - Studs are usually 16 in (40 cm) apart.
