Compared to Subnautica, the two stories in Below Zero can be a distraction. I’ve caught myself wondering which story I should resolve first. While the original has one main goal that you can focus on at your own pace. Map size is another issue. Below Zero has a smaller map. So exploring ends too quickly for me. But the designers did come up with fun biomes to explore. I downloaded this game aware of the faults, and I still enjoyed it. Regardless, it’s a fantastic sci-fi survival game that keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. The UI is great, the controls solid, and the base building is just as fun as Subnautica, it’s just more of a DLC than a full-fledged sequel. It’s a great franchise, and this is a solid entry. Well worth the price.
