Thanks to carefully designed architecture and heavy usage of coprocessor it blurs the boundaries between iOS and hardware synthesizers. Sunrizer was built to perform and works perfectly with any MIDI keyboard or sequencer. A lot of research has been done in order to achieve unique character, warmth and clarity. HIGHLIGHTS · True SuperSaw sound emulation, first found in the legendary Roland JP-8000 synthesizer. I recently made the mistake of downloading one of the new breed of synthesisers to see how it performed in Logic Pro for IPad as an AUv3 insert. The app was supposed to be AUv3 compatible but despite several attempts to get it to reliably perform I lost patience and got a refund. The lesson here is don’t listen to all the hype from the various review sites unless there are guarantees an App will work on the DAW of your choice in all operation situations. October 2022: Made the mistake of starting to use this again - the various smaller issues previously mentioned - for which I left my rating at 5 stars, mark you - now pale into insignificance. I dared to put three instances of Sunrizer into a song, hadn’t used it in ages. Something seized up when I exited (ie ‘saved’) inside GB song editor, then no matter a restart, flicking GB completely off, etc, the only way I could get GarageBand back, was by going into Files, and deleting the offending GB file. Or, as I found, deleting the three entries of Sunrizer Audio Unit inside the song. A real shame - love this synth but now it’s literally making me concerned what might happen. Also, I lost the MIDI pattern unless I now go into ‘Files’ app and copy the offending song, then go in and move the MIDI to another (non-problematic) Audio Unit synth, and that would save it. The cycle it locked me into in GB was endless, until I deleted all instances of Sunrizer Audio Unit, is the takeaway. One star for locking GarageBand into an endless loop. If they fix this, I will happily re-review. OLDER… August 8th 2021…contact not found on server if i try that, so here’s hoping this dev sees this…using with garageband on ipad pro 2, two instances gives massive overloud static sound. Using one instance gives a warning in gb ‘audiounit unloaded - reload or disable?’. Using latest ios 14.7, and latest ipadOS garageband version. It’s great synth, but I cannot use it as things stand! help! Take care all. Note I won’t reduce my five stars as hopefully it’s fixable, sunrizer, I miss you. EDIT - stranger symptoms happened when I persisted and got 5 instances of sunrizer - when the AudioUnit ‘reload’disable’ error came up this time I disabled it, and even knocked GB off totally and rebooted the ipad…but still my midi tracks in sunrizer went silent, at the bar and measure where the error message came up…I literally had to delete bits of midi then undo my deleting of the little sections of midi concerned, to ‘repair’ them! This still might not be sunrizer as such…probably it’s just how GB ‘breaks’ when you load it up to the edge, because the GB memory management on ipad, well, it doesn’t. I had a drummer track and 4 other synth tracks in this song file. This last issue probably is simply ‘the way GB breaks on this occasion’! SEP 22nd 2019... So, AUV3 runs fine now - latest update yesterday - and I have one song I am trying Sunrizer, with 5 instances in GarageBand song (which with an -- sleekitwan, 2022-10-02 ### ***** "Very unique sounding synth" This really is a classic and much loved synth and it’s fantastic that this is still being updated even though it’s over 10 years old. -- mbt101, 2022-08-08 ### ***** "Sunrizer is a Classic! 🎹🎧😎" [Review updated 4 July 2018] Now AUv3!!! [Review updated 1 Sept 2021] Now Universal!!! First synth I bought for iOS (XS) in 2013 for my iPhone 4. The default preset was so powerful, it left my eyes and mouth wide open! It still has that ability today. Standing the test of time, in this case, means the sound (which includes the presets) can still be used for the latest genres of music. It's always sounds fresh, strong, fat and lush! Great fx section, I'm looking at you reverb-bb.. Excellent synth/app, also very responsive developer (bonus) and it is future proof. It may or may not become an Audio Unit [AUv3]?? but it's still-brill standalone. It has alway been on my front page, hope it stays there (AU) will keep it there). I also find that I use it as one of my main/quick tester for midi/audio related stuff... it just works. Sunrizer is a Classic! Love it! King ————— Edit/added: today this synth just solidified, it confirmed its place! It is now AUv3.. What more could it need, I think that’s good enough for future proofing right there. Back with an updated review after 6 years of using Sunrizer, it still is one of the best sounding synth apps on the App Store, I have used its many sharp crystal clear digital/analog sounds in so many music projects. Things have moved on Tech wise over the years since first buying Sunrizer - more powerful and faster iPads, I now only use and rely on one DAW (Cubasis3) on iPad8, and sunrizer still reigns supreme in my synth app collection, it is not too complicated to create brilliant sounding presets, it does suffer now and then in Cubasis3 by going mute for no reason (that I know of). Looking forward to many more years of creativity with Sunrizer⭐️ 6 Years Ago. I have many synths and studio's on my iPad but they now must take second place behind Sunrizer. It is so inspiring with so many awesome sound textures and leads, especially when connected to my full size keyboard via iRig Midi.
