Paint color naming game

Description

Swatch This is a competitive paint color naming game for 2-8 players, featuring real, outrageous color swatches.
Real-life paint colors aren’t just called “yellow” or “pink” or “blue,” they’re much more evocative and fun. So a yellow-gold might be “Sunny Side Up,” a bright pink “Sweet Sixteen,” or a teal-blue “Jamaica Bay.”
In Swatch This you’ll create your own color names, as serious or silly as you want.
The other players in the match are making up names too, so at the end everyone will try to pick out the real name from the made-up ones. Guess the right name and you'll get points — fool another player and you’ll get even more!
Swatch This features three game modes.
- Online Turn-Based Multiplayer: automatch or play with friends around the world using Game Center
- Pass & Play: play on a single device by taking turns
- Pen & Paper: play on a single device by writing color names on paper, like a board game
There are no consumable in-app purchases or “pay to win” mechanics. Play unlimited matches in all game modes for free. If you enjoy the game, please consider buying the Palette Pack to permanently unlock many more color swatches.

Swatch This Reviews

Love the local play

I’ve only played it locally, though there is an online option, but I love this game and play it with who ever is around me when we have a little down time, like while in a restaurant. And everyone always ends up loving it too. Personally, I think paying $2 for more swatches was worth it, and would like it if they added some more!

Good concept, terrible execution

I downloaded this game a few days ago. In that time, I tried to play six games. Only two of them have been completed. One of them was begun on TUESDAY of last week (it’s Sunday night) and is still waiting to complete. What this says to me is the developers didn’t think through the online aspect of this at all. People play games when they have free time, and expect the game to begin and end in a reasonable amount of time and have fallbacks for if a player drops mid-game or doesn’t take a turn in a timely manner, such as having default auto-generated answers that the game provides on a player’s behalf if the player doesn’t provide them. There are so many PVP games on the market that successfully account for this that could be used as a model. There should be a timer to name the colors— say, one minute per color— and it shouldn’t be turn-based. Everyone should be naming colors in the same four-minute timeframe. Once the names are in, at the four minute mark or sooner, everyone should get the names sent to them immediately and should, again at the same time, have thirty seconds per color to pick the best answer. At the two minute mark, the winner is selected. Why is the game turn-based in a way where games are held up by players who leave and never come back? This isn’t a new or experimental idea so it should be easy to follow best practices for this style of gameplay in games already on the market. If that can get revamped, I think this game could be a lot of fun. It’s just not right now.

Great concept, but not enough players

Don’t get me wrong, the game is fun! However, there’s not a huge player base, and I’m usually stuck waiting days for the next turn on an online match. If you could play locally online, match with other players who are actively online, or at the very least get a notification when another player has finished their turn, this would be a 5 star game!

Fun but frustrating

I really like the concept of the game but it is to slow paced. I would like it where they match you with someone that is playing the game at the same time. Waiting days for someone to take their turn is very frustrating. I’m not going to delete because this could be a fun game, just hoping they change it. When that happens they get ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

Online Multiplayer not working

Burnt Kloverfield on

Fun game! The automatch for more than one opponent isn't working. I select to add more players to automatch and it goes to a loading/quit screen and it just has a spinning loading circle. I can't tap on anything and I have to close the app and reopen it. I would love to play against more than one opponent but it never loads.

Fun but needs notifications

I love this concept and the execution is great. But when playing with random people online, games don’t get finished, or take a long time to finish, maybe because there are no notifications letting people know they’ve been auto matched. If this was resolved I’d give it 5 stars!

Fun and gorgeous

If you like making up words and pretty colors, do I have a game for you! It’s cool how you can play in person or with friends on the other side of the country on your own time. 10/10 makes me want ice cream after playing.
