The handwriting recognition is very poorly documented (so you have to keep experimenting to find what works) and often produces very unexpected results. The UI is full of unintuitive behaviours and complexity (to add a chord symbol requires three taps to get to type the symbol, then two more to get out of the chord mode to be able to write again. Not very intuitive and the workflow is a bit cumbersome. There are definitely some bugs/issues that still need to be addressed. I opted to pay for the Apple Pencil feature; this was a huge mistake. It won’t recognize a huge variety of markings, including very common ones (I.e. triplets). Furthermore, when it does it will often confuse them with another (I.e. staccato can be seen as a dotted note and vice versa). I’d love to be able to quickly write tabs out to help my students who can’t read but this is not supported either; which seems like a massive over site. Overall, I spend more time correcting mistakes and manually inputting notes and markings then I do writing them out in the first place. It is relatively intuitive to use, however some of the more advanced features require a bit of reading. Not a huge learning curve though and a little patience and perseverance goes a long way. I’m using it on iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil and the notation recognition is very good, even for my messy handwritten notation. You definitely don’t need the handwriting feature though, entering notes is very easy in the regular mode. But handwriting is pretty fun. :). The program exported directly to For Score which was awesome.
