## Symphony Pro Description
Symphony Pro 6 is a complete and intuitive app for writing music notation on iPad. It allows you to compose music for just about any size ensemble, from piano, symphonies, band, lead sheets, chord charts, guitar tabs, and more.

Starting Version 5, Symphony Pro now offers handwriting recognition as the only in-app purchase: Perfect with Apple Pencil, and works great with touch or capacitive stylus

GETTING STARTED 

SP provides all of the key options to begin your work. Import a score via MusicXML, MXL, MIDI, or SP file from your computer, or from apps like Dropbox, Mail, iCloud Drive, or Safari. You can base your project on a template, or start a blank score and add additional parts later. 

EDITING

To add notes, choose Pencil mode, and tap anywhere on a bar to begin editing right away. You can quickly specify note properties before or after placing notes. By switching to Select mode with one touch, you can also transpose, erase, cut, and paste multiple notes/tracks.

With an on-screen instrument, a QWERTY keyboard, or Core MIDI compatible keyboard, you can quickly enter notes & chords in step entry mode. Record a part in real-time with on-screen instruments to transcribe into notation.

Versions 4 & 5 take greater advantage of the iPad touchscreen. With shortcuts and contextual menus to edit note & bar properties, many of the commonly used editing commands are right at your fingertips.

SP supports a wide range of notational elements for your composition. Including dynamics & articulations, time & key signature changes, clef changes, pedals, and repeat conventions. Edit chord symbols, lyrics, and annotations using the iPad’s standard keyboard. 

EXPORT & SHARE

When you’re finished, print out your score with AirPrint, or export it as a PDF, MusicXML, AAC, MIDI, or Symphony file. Share files via email or directly to another computer or iPad via Dropbox/iCloud Drive.

### ***** "What i have been looking for"
Much more stable than alternatives out there that most YouTubers seem to vouch for. I can now input music notes much more efficiently, and it hasn’t crashed for me as of yet. Though a little laggy at times, and some actions are not the most intuitive. 
All in all i am just immensely grateful that i do not have to constantly hunt for my mouse to change note values.

### *---- "So painful I almost smashed my iPad"
All the functions appear to be there. But it is buggy like crazy. Copying pasting sections will always guarantee additional notes, rests or weird additions. It is so unintuitive that it makes me want to go back to paper. 

Adding repeats, symbols and text is also painful. 

I have been using this for over a year and I still don’t get how this increases my productivity. 

Today I seriously started looking at computer based notation systems.

### ***** "Very quick and useful"
I like it very much for an app, it's great to be able to type out music quickly on the iPad. The updates have all been very well thought out too. 
The limitations I have is transferring it as a .xml file to be used in another software for further editing. While the original notes come out clearly, the "cut and paste" sections couldn't be read. 
Nevertheless it's been extremely useful. Thanks!

### ****- "Very good improvement Ver 2.0"
This program is very good for those who wants to sing in different parts of the musical notes.
Can imagine that the choir no longer needs to print pages of music notes !!!!!

Since we can create many tracks of a particular song, at times we need to hear only on one or a certain combination of tracks.
One suggestion that will be very valuable is to have a selection "mute" button on each track.
We can thus enable or disable the sound of each track instead of moving the sound bar to mute the track.

This app actually does let you notate music with ease and as it's pretty intuitive to use, writing music is quite fast and relatively breezy.  

There are some issues though that I hope the developer will resolve:
-  some of my work involve writing songs and after you painstakingly align your lyrics in the default edit landscape view, you find them all askew and mis-aligned - a mess, really -  when you view it in portrait which also happens to be the fixed default orientation when you export or print the music sheet.

To overcome this, I had to delete and re-write the lyrics but creating text boxes in landscape first, then flipping over to portrait to key in the lyrics.  Very tedious!

- it would be good if you could have some control over the number of measures per line.  Right now, the app automatically determines this and it seems a little buggy.  It'll especially be useful when fitting in lyrics as you can then space them out if you had less bars in some lines.

If it weren't for these issues, I would have given a higher rating.  Still, I have so far enjoyed using the app and am grateful for my newfound mobility in writing music.
