The FamilyMode app is the only reason I stay with T-mobile
I also agree with the kids leaving reviews on here! This would be the fastest way to ruin trust in any relationship! We all have this fear of something going awry BUT we also need to trust that they will handle an amiss in a positive way without us being a HELLicopter parent. Before all this technology landed in our laps (when we were kids) we had no choice BUT to put trust in our kids. Just saying
The new update is very helpful. I like the new search feature which allows me to search for any app...plus the description of all the apps my kid visited is a nice addition. Thanks T-mobile
Unable to add my sons phone to FamilyMode. We have talked to T-Mobile support several times, and still nothing. Each time they claim they are “opening a ticket” whatever that means, but that goes nowhere. When I call back, I get transferred to a call center and we do nothing but start the process all over again. Nobody ever follows up from the last ticket that was opened. I’ve been paying $10 a month and can’t even use the app.
Child is on the internet, yet usage time is saying “0” !! Waited an hour to see if the time just needed to adjust and nothing. The categories should also provide examples of the web pages. Arts & Entertainment, Sports & Rec … what type of web pages would that be ? Good concept, yet needs a lot of improvement ! There should be a place to add the actual webpage to either always allow or block. There are also appl such a book/reading appls that’s a parent should be able to choose to always allow (not included with time limit) and block at bed time. . Safety Areas are limited! Yet once you reach the max safety areas in the appl, you can’t add another and there’s no place to view or delete the safety areas you’ve already added! . If a child is in one area for a while and safety area is not listed … it should tell you child is X. . Definitely needs improvement!
I got a new phone and can no longer log in. I have been filing tickets with tech support for a month (they keep outsourcing my calls to the Philippines and the agents are not that tech savvy tbh), every time I try to accept the terms and conditions at login now it says “unable to complete your request please try again later” and I’ve done every troubleshoot possible from uninstall, reinstall, clear cache, remove the feature from my account then re add it, change the primary number on my account to see if it’s the logins, tried android and apple devices, you name it. No longer works and the support for it is non existent nobody knows how to help me! 0 stars now because I really did need this app for my family!!
This app is great the interface is simple.
honestly i hate this. i may be biased as my parents used this to control my screen time and what i do on my phone— but i feel like there are way better options out there. i’ll start by mentioning i do like a few parts of the app. there’s a feature that lets u see ur child’s location, which may weird me out, but i definitely understand the need for it. i also like how it lets parents monitor their kids screen time, although i personally feel it takes it too far. first of all, it shows every website and app you use or download to your guardian. this gives you rly little privacy, which is pretty frustrating especially for a child or teenager. in my experience, this feature scared me a lot as well; i was terrified my parents would use it to either belittle me for my interests or force me to get rid of games and such that i enjoyed. it also lets your parents specifically block you from viewing certain things, which prevented me from playing a mobile game made for children 9+ (as i said, i’m definitely biased, tho i do think i have some valid points!). this is getting long, so i’ll end off by saying how this app and others like it can ruin the trust between children and parents. again, i’ll be speaking from my experience — my parents were always trying to control what i did both online and in person, which led to me having very little trust in them, and them using this app did not benefit that poor relationship. i feel like there are ways to monitor ur children and make sure they don’t view anything bad or inappropriate online without installing apps such as this. tldr, although the app works as intended, i would not recommend it to others because it gives ur child little privacy and prevents you from building a trusting relationship w them.
The app is very limited due to iOS restrictions, it you are able to track people and disable internet on iOS phones. This is why the app isn’t good, it’s limited to just phones. They don’t offer anything for tablets or PCs so it’s easy to get around and your children can just turn on the mobile Hot Spot that T-Mobile refuses to block and connect to each other to bypass everything. Also, the app still says it supports T-Mobile Home Base, a product they discontinued in 2022. And they charge you $10/mo for this service. There are competing services that do this and more for less. If this were a free service I’d have no complaints.
Not working correctly
