### ***-- "Great Design, But the App Lacks Key Features"
We’ve been using Tado Smart Radiator Thermostats (V3+) for the past two years. While the thermostats work well and the system is generally reliable, the app is missing some essential features you’d expect in a modern smart home product.

What I Like:
•The app design and layout are excellent—intuitive and easy to use.
•The scheduling system works well, and setting up the system was straightforward.

What Needs Improvement:
•Siri Integration: The app lacks deeper Siri functionality. For example, I’d expect to say, “Hey Siri, resume schedule,” and have it resume my preset thermostat schedules. Simple, practical commands like this are missing.
•Smart Widgets: There’s no widget functionality. A smart widget with one-tap controls, like resuming a schedule, would save time and effort, but it doesn’t exist.
•App Performance: The app often takes too long to load, frequently displaying “updating” when I try to make quick adjustments.
•Battery Notifications: The thermostats constantly send low battery alerts, even when the batteries are new. These notifications seem inaccurate and have become something I just ignore.

Tado’s smart thermostats are great at connecting to radiators to manage heating efficiently and save energy, but the app experience lags behind. It needs modern features like smart widgets, better Siri integration, and improved performance to match the quality of the hardware. Adding these updates would make this a 5-star experience.

I love this product and use it all the time however, their app takes too long to load and seems to be always updating (“sit tight, tado is updating…”, “mmm…this is taking longer than expected…) everyday!!! In addition, there is no mode for heat+cool like nest and other thermostats have. This is important. Where I live temperature changes a lot from day to night or week to week. So if temperature goes below a certain level I want heat, but if goes above I want cold. Once I told them about that, they complete dismissed it…

Usually it works fine but recently I can’t pass the start screen. I tried to install it again and it works the first time you reopen it and then it goes back getting stuck on the start screen. Fix this please!

### **--- "Keeps needing support to reset firmware to old version"
I’ve had 5 Tado devices for about 4 years. HomeKit didnt work that great with them in the beginning but the app was reliable.

About 3 years ago the firmware was updated on my device and the app started setting the wrong temperature. I contacted support and they said it was because the new firmware didn’t properly support Fahrenheit. They downgraded the firmware to an old version that supported fewer features.

Since then, ever time I have had to reset the Tado devices for whatever reason (sometimes they go offline until I do) they get upgraded. I then need to contact support and go back and forth over email for days until they finally downgrade them again. This has been going on for 3 years and happened at least three times.

Overall, these devices take more of my time than they save.

Es gibt immer wieder Steuerungsprobleme. Der Support wurde mehrmals kontaktiert. Wurde aber nichts behoben. Die Internetverbindung fällt aus. Das System ist von außerhalb deswegen dann nicht zu erreichen. Auch ist das Steuerungsverhalten oft uneinheitlich.

I have 3 Smart AC thermostats, setup was very easy (had a little bug the first day but that got fixed with an update literally over night.)
Scheduling is great and the thermostat’s infrared is much more powerful than the remote that came with my AC. 
You do need an in-App purchase to use the fully automatic mode but I do not need it.

Charging people 3$ monthly for the implementation of geo fencing and window detection is too much and should be stated much clearer on the product when purchasing. The detection algorithm is running on the phone resulting in push messages, so why not bring the final functionality to the user? 

Otherwise the system works reliable. Some of the basic functionality takes too many interactions/steps.

A nice looking app with a clean and relatively intuitive UI. Unfortunately some key features are broken, rendering the app large useless. For example, the app allows you to switch to away mode when you are remote, but you can't switch back to normal mode unless you are in the house. That means coming to back to a cold house.

This app just sent me a notification to advertise their 30% off promotion for their "upgrade". This is against App Store rules (rule 4.5.4) and extremely annoying. Especially because the "upgrade" is a bunch of hot air, what they're selling is not a new feature (they claim the "Air comfort skill" is a feature but it just looks like 3rd party easily available data that's not very accurate) but just a new design. 
I really regret buying these thermostats, this company's behavior is terrible

### *---- "Used to work but then they removed its best feature"
The Tado Smart AC Controller used to be a great piece of hardware, giving the ability to manually program your air conditioner’s commands if you didn’t like the presets or your brand wasn’t available. Now you can no longer do that. Even though the device itself supports swinging, the lousy preset Tado made doesn’t, so I used to program it in myself. I had to factory reset due to getting a different model AC and now this feature is gone. 

This is what their support team had to say

 “We are sorry to inform you that it is not possibile to register single commands (like swings). Unfortunately, with the new software release, this possibility is no more supported because it was too time consuming.  We apologize for the inconvenience.”

Basically, even though I was willing to go through the trouble, they decided for the consumer that it wasn’t necessary. Competing IR blasters let you do manual inputs, yes it takes time.

The worst part is the “Teach Tado” option is in the app and on the website still, it simply doesn’t work. Essentially this is false advertising.

Very, very disappointed.
