## TAP: Tech Activity Pact Description
TAP is a different kind of screen time app. Built to help your kids develop skills for this screen-heavy world, TAP teaches negotiation, discipline, and self-management — not surveillance and enforcement.

A pact is a screen time agreement your family builds together. Not rules handed down from a parent's phone. An actual negotiation — where teens propose terms, parents respond, and everyone signs before it goes live. If it stops working, anyone can request a renegotiation.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Sit down together. Open TAP with your family. Each person sees the same screen.

2. Build the pact. Propose screen time rules, responsibilities, and rewards. Negotiate until both sides agree.

3. Sign it. Everyone commits. The pact is live.

4. Check in daily. Teens post a quick check-in showing they held up their end. No background tracking. No app surveillance. Just honest accountability.

5. Watch your streak grow. Consistent follow-through builds a family streak. Parents can send bonus rewards for effort.

6. Renegotiate when life changes. Got a new semester? Summer break? Anyone can propose new terms. TAP is the only screen time app where teens can formally renegotiate the rules.

WHY TAP INSTEAD OF PARENTAL CONTROLS?

Parental controls treat your teen as a threat. Block. Monitor. Restrict. Teens resist — they share passcodes, factory-reset phones, use friends' devices. The controls fail, and the relationship pays for it.

TAP does the opposite. When teens help write the rules, they follow them. When both sides see the same dashboard, there's nothing to sneak around. When renegotiation is built in, nobody feels trapped.

The American Academy of Pediatrics dropped specific screen time limits in January 2026. Their new recommendation: collaborative family media plans where parents and kids make decisions together. TAP is that plan, in an app.

WHO TAP IS FOR

- Parents of tweens and teens (ages 9-17) who are tired of screen time fights
- Families who've tried enforcement apps and watched them backfire
- Parents who believe kids should have a voice in family rules

WHO TAP IS NOT FOR

- Parents of toddlers who need hard device locks
- Families looking for content filtering or web monitoring
- Anyone who wants to secretly track their teen's phone
