Telegraph Puzzles

I love telegraph puzzles - have a subscription and play on the website all the time, but this app needs some serious work - puzzles don’t load and when the app is working the ux makes you want to cry (can’t delete letters, goes over completed clues, generally extremely frustrating to use). Telegraph are missing out on revenue by not having an app that can compete with NYT and attract non-US English speakers who get annoyed with the Americanness of NYT puzzles, but it seems not a priority.

This was a decent app until the latest update. Now as you progress through a puzzle, you are constantly bombarded with progress pop ups on the screen. For example, once you get half way through a code word you get a pop-up that says you are half way. Not so bad. However it covers the part of the puzzle you are trying to complete and then keeps popping again as you enter more squares. Infuriating. Get these removed please!

Provide updates that don’t reset your users’ progress back to zero for a puzzle. Every day! The archive is clearly there from the distant past it’s just nothing updates as it should. Is this the Telegraph version of Groundhog Day? It’s rather pointless doing these puzzles daily until you correct this.

I’m frustrated as I had got into a routine of doing the quick puzzles and had a good streak when it was part of the original app. Now I’ve lost all that as my progress hasn’t migrated over to the separate app despite having the same login. I’m also annoyed at having to pay a second fee for puzzles when I would get them if I bought the print version. The puzzle app is very glitchy and keeps popping up with “halfway there” progress banners which won’t stop appearing. Put it back how it was and stop charging extra for stuff that shouldn’t be considered extra! Edit: removing a star as I can’t access previous puzzles anymore. No response from developers to my email or on here, as other reviewers have said. Massively disappointing for such an expensive app. Unlikely to renew my subscription.

The puzzles feature within the main app was far better than this. This app is poor in its click to action response. On almost every click I have to slowly wait and press several times the digit or letter I want to enter … and wait to check it has registered 🤯🤬 particularly making the ‘timed’ playing utterly pointless. On average it takes me a whole 7 minutes more to complete a puzzle like Sudoko because of this. Thoroughly irritating! You can’t even load up to the link email to report issues. The screen just sits with the app stuck on loading. As I complete half of a sudoko puzzle I now have a pop up every single time I enter a new number, a pop up to tell me halfway there … this blocks the puzzle and the numbers again further delaying me moving on to the next number I wish to enter. Honestly Telegraph what on earth are you thinking here!!! This needs ditching. Please bring back functioning puzzle feature within the main telegraph app. Please support that option. This app is not fit for purpose!

Totally unreliable. Today it is not possible to access, the puzzles are not loading, puzzle screen has working sign spinning over each puzzle.

Taken my money but app won’t open just

Why do I now have to pay for a puzzles subscription in order to access the cryptic crossword? If one had purchased the print version, the crossword would be on the back of the newspaper. It is not downloadable (unlike when it was part of the paper app) and thr app is vile to look at - I have never seen so much PINK. A blatant money-grabbing attempt to make subscribers pay for what they already had and removing an integral part of the newspaper. Pitiful.

Constantly crashes

I thoroughly enjoy playing all the crosswords, sudokus, panagrams and the new Sorted puzzles. Great Fun!!
