การประเมินน้ำหนักส่วนสูงและ ความยาว รอบศรีษะ ตามเกณฑ์อายุ ใช้ข้อมูลขององค์การอนามัยโลก(WHO)จึงสามารถใช้ประเมินเด็กทั่วโลก ส่วนเด็กที่อายุมากกว่า5ปีขึ้นไป จนถึงอายุ 19 ปี ใช้ ข้อมูล การประเมินของเด็กไทยโดย สำนักโภชนาการ กรมอนามัยค่า BMI   ในที่นี้ใช้ของสมาคมต่อมไร้ท่อในเด็กแห่งประเทศไทยปี 2565 ซึ่งอ้างอิงข้อมูล องค์การอนามัยโลก(WHO)ปี2549 สำหรับเด็กอายุต่ำกว่า5ปี ส่วนเด็กที่อายุมากกว่า 5ปีอ้างอิงจากสำนักโภชนาการกรมอนามัยปี 2563 แต่การใช้ค่า BMI ดูความอ้วนผอม จะมีความแม่นยำในเด็กที่อายุ5ปีขึ้นไป (โดยเฉพาะอายุต่ำกว่าสองขวบยิ่งไม่แม่นยำ) ดังนั้นเด็กอายุ ต่ำกว่าห้าปีใช้การดูอ้วนผอมจากค่าน้ำหนักตามเกณฑ์ส่วนสูง(Weight for height ซึ่งใช้ของสำนักโภชนาการกรมอนามัย 2564)จะดีกว่า

Children under 5 years: Weight, height, and head circumference assessments follow the World Health Organization (WHO) growth standards.

Children aged 5 to 19 years: Assessments are based on the growth criteria provided by the Bureau of Nutrition, Department of Health (Thailand).

BMI Analysis: * References the Thai Society for Pediatric Endocrinology (TSPE) 2022 guidelines.

For children under 5, BMI data is based on WHO (2006).

For children over 5, data is based on the Bureau of Nutrition, Department of Health (Thailand) 2020.

Accuracy Note: For children under 5 (especially those under 2), Weight-for-Height (based on the Bureau of Nutrition 2021 standards) is recommended over BMI for a more accurate assessment of body composition.
