The Age Reviews

A fantastic app.

As a former Melbourne citizen, I find the Age’s coverage of all things Australian to be excellent.

The most excellent app for news from Australia and a good coverage of world events in general. Not too detailed which I prefer 👍 Regards Mark (Australian living in NZ)

Having the ability to read The Age while living outside of Australia enables me to keep informed on local and international news. Excellent journalism, in-depth articles along side great recipes and lifestyle articles of interest, makes for an enjoyable reading experience.

Terrible design

Even though I’m a subscriber, I can’t access any of the stuff I want. No quiz, no crossword, no search function. This is a complete waste of an app

There is no doubt in my mind that this was once a proud independent quality newspaper. Those days have long gone. It is worth subscribing to but NOT at the full price they are asking. The price does not compare favourably with international newspaper subscriptions. There is too much puerile nonsense and click bait scam advertising here. For local Victorian news it is better than the alternative but it is a long way from a complete news organisation now. Predictable and shallow reporting are unfortunately there when in depth reporting by experienced writers is required. We are currently subscribed at a discount rate. I cannot see us willingly paying the full price at the end of the discount period. The value simply isn’t there.

Why bother having an app?

Half of the functions take you out of the app into a separate web page, where it refuses to let you sign in and thus it’s impossible to access even after paying for a subscription. Just a terrible user interface.

I’m loving the stories (although the number of sports articles high in my feed is confusing as I don’t read them!). My issue is difficulty reading the font on my phone. A different or larger font would be much easier for me, but the app doesn’t allow this form of personalisation. Please consider adding it.

The Age is my top read

Highly recommend for unbiased news and sane analysis and editorial.

New app updates

Xdytry on

Australia

The latest version of this app jumps so that if you temporarily close the app to check another webpage, the newspaper is never in the same spot when you return to it. The contents button does not navigate well either and often closes when you try to select a section of the newspaper. Needs improvement.
