Excellent app. Insightful articles which provide analysis not available elsewhere. Keep up the good work. Potential for more critical objective analysis of Premiere League clubs by those who are not dedicated correspondents ((I understand those correspondents need to keep their relationships intact). But overall, a very positive source of information/education for those of us obsessed with the beautiful game.
The Athletic steadily morphing into everything it claims not to be
More and more clickbait headlines, and rage baiting, engagement desperate articles. When The Athletic launched in Europe, it sold itself as a grown up title that would offer smart, informative content, but it’s steadily regressed in to the type of nonsense you’ll find on any news aggregator. I’ve unsubscribed, but unfortunately I had paid an annual subscription, and have paid until well in to 2025. I suspect a number of the better journalists will have left by then.
Money robbers
I have tried many times to cancel my subscription but they keep taking money off my card. Contacted them by email but it didn’t help. Be very wary of this app.
Glitchy lately
- cant comment on stories
- randomly acts like I havent signed up
- no support email, zendesk which promots me to create a separate NYT account which i dont want
- no longer can access last loaded articles offline, have to save beforehans
Poor subscription management
Paid for a subscription in March and now it’s not on account. No access to content and no easy way to find. I’ve clicked through to setting on the athletic website and nytimes site, but going around in circles.
Loi
Introduce a league of Ireland writer and it would be perfect
Athletic
The Athletic is the most important read I look forward to each day
Average
Content not as deep, varied or insightful as a couple of years back. Much more formulaic approach to news and analysis. Real shame. Only now worth a discounted subscription.
5 Stars
Epic app. Subscribed on a free trial and I’ll 100% keep the service. Great coverage and stories are reported. Only thing I would love if the league table was live during prem matches.
Frustrating
I have downloaded the app onto my new phone. When I download it my name and details appear to be there but when I go into an article to read it, it asks me to subscribe????
