Religiousy

teacherinjapan on

Wow, overly long, bad rhymes, repetitive, and preachy. My kid got so bored during the story as I read it, and I couldn't wait for it to be over. Easily one of the worst-written stories I ever bought. Don't bother getting it.

Great holiday adventure!

My girls enjoyed the Bears’ adventure through the wilderness to find their tree. Beautiful artwork and neat effects in this app.

Locks up my phone.

Not very happy about this app, as it locks up my phone so the buttons no longer respond. Want my money back.

Great book, my kids love it and they don't care that it's to long. They really enjoy it!

Boring

I'm a huge fan of Oceanhouse Media's Dr. Seuss books. I have purchased every single one for my daughter, who is now four years old. With two exceptions I would give every one of them five stars. So when I wanted another, but no new ones had been released, I decided to give this one a shot. It's not very good. For the most part, this has nothing to do with Oceanhouse Media. The treatment seems to be the same high quality I have come to expect. Oceanhouse's treatment is incredibly formulaic, but the formula is a good one, and always executed with care and attention to detail. This just isn't a very good book. First, it's heavy-handedly Christian. I know that sounds like an unfair complaint about a book based on a Christian holiday, but realistically Christmas is a secular holiday as much as a Christian one. And Christmas trees are primarily the realm of Santa Clause's Christmas. Anyway, the references to god in this book are pretty ham-fisted, which I found off-putting. But that's not what really bothered me about it. The big problem is that it is looooooooong. And boring. And the author makes an amateurish attempt at Seuss-style rhyming and just doesn't pull it off. For one thing, (s)he drops out of rhyming whenever a good rhyme couldn't be found, and most of the rhymes are awkward and forced. Honestly, while I didn't like the bits about praising god, not to mention an explicit bible quote, complete with citation to chapter and verse, that's not my primary reason for disliking this book. Even if that is your cup of tea, I would imagine there are far better Christian books out there than this one.

Thanks for making this one available

Again our daughter loves Berenstein Bears books and now she loves them even more on my iPhone! I know $3.99 is not cheap but I am happy to see our daughter's reading skill improved a lot! She got an "A" in her reading and English class! Thanks
