The Economist Reviews

Great content, terrible app

Mrqmrc44 on

Belgium

Not here to comment on the content, which obviously is amazing. The app however is a disappointment. Interface could be better but the worst part is its sluggishness, looking at how much storage the app takes something seems to be piling up in the background. So every month or so one needs to delete and reinstall the app in order to keep it workable...

Really good

Geraud1988 on

Belgium

I'm not here to comment on the quality of the articles that the economist offer as it's unmatched across the world. I'm here to talk about the app, which is really great. I gave you 4 stars as I would love to see articles disappeared from the home page once they have been read to be able to discover more new content. Plus it's been months since the saved articles are not shown in the saved section of the app, like nothing was ever saved.

The content is excellent but the app sucks

Ike reviews on

Belgium

The app is prone to crashes and is very slow.

App

GForTri on

Belgium

Great app, would love nearly all content to be audio enabled.

Recent update on text selection

hiking jaband on

Belgium

There recently has been some changes in how we can select text in the articles. Before we were able to select specific words which allowed the use of dictionaries and research fonctions. This was pretty handy for none english natives and curious minds as a whole. It is now only possible to copy whole paragraphs. This undermines knowledge accessibility. Please return to previous settings.

Th best way to learn English

LeGrosBelge on

Belgium

I could be usefull being able to save words and sentences and their translations.

Unprofessional customer service

davy_be on

Belgium

The app seems designed 10 years ago, reading option for articles is poorly organised, content is what one would expect from TE, however, their customer service is a joke and most unlikely illegal in the way they obstruct the process of cancelling a subscription, no option to cancel from the app, then on website no way to cancel without calling a phone number or opening a chat service that takes forever despite being a simple robot, shame on TE.

A pleasure to read or listen to

Vicky Free on

Belgium

Having access to the digital version of The Economist is not only about (the important) keeping pace with a fast evolving world reality. It is also about enjoying a degree of analysis and depth, something which is in ever shorter supply in much of today’s media. What a pleasure to read - or listen to -succinct yet well-conceived articles, with arguments properly developed and a robust use of syntax, grammar and semantics!

Nice lay-out, very poor performance.

Belgium

Love the journalism, well presented, quite easy to use and intuitive, but very slow reaction to clicks and sometimes scrolls, and crashes frequently.

Do not support split screen

ddf03 on

Belgium

Installed this the first thing on my iPad but very disappointed that it does not support split screen as I want to take notes while l read. Hopefully the next update will include this function.
