The Economist great publication with a below par app. It is time for the magazine to align its digital platform with the same level of quality its content has displayed for decades. Looking forward to this…..
The app keeps flickering when moving between articles, even after I bought the newest mobile device. It also keeps jumping back to tue beginning of the issue rather than return to the latest article I read. Also, why was the feature of “looking up” words been blocked?
As far as I have seen, this is by far the best newspaper in English. The articles are well balanced and loaded with objective details. The app shows short and long articles. Have fun!
Enlightning in things i dont know much about, and at time disappointing in things I know about, but till an amazing source of information.
I registered to the economist for three months but couldn’t stop the payment afterwards. I’m still being charged and don’t have the option to cancel the payment until this moment.
The economist seem like they dont try out anything new before they publish it. The audio download isn’t intuitive, the app icon switched with another app and I now have to download the audio as a whole. You’d think for the money the economist makes they wouldn’t be such crap. I waited a few months for the double speed option to come back. Not a reliable service and, sadly, consistently correcting after the fact. I hope whoever is in charge of this updates is fired and find a hard time landing a job. The content is great but the not intuitive process to reach it is impossible. I wonder what I pay for, as the 20 minutes I lost trying to understand the new update clearly isn’t it. Good luck to the newspaper and I hope the tech and app department go back to resining school as they clearly don’t know the basics of Ux.
I really like the new app, the only downside is the cartoon which just cannot be seen in a decent way. Switching my phone to landscape mode it only shows on about half the screen. Double tap zooms too far. In portrait mode it’s again in similar size. I have to zoom by pinching then slide t (too slowly) to the side or to the side and down. Just a pain.
After purchasing the subscription on my iPAD via iTunes, the option to register my digital subscription vanished from the settings menu. I see no other way to read The Economist on my other devices :(.
So frustrated with all the feature regressions in the new app.
