I gave two stars simply because The Economist is the best magazine out there, otherwise, it would have been a one. The latest app is truly a step back compared to the previous one. After you read an article, this is not not always marked as read, so, the reader looses track of what he/she has completed or not. Additionally, one cannot highlight anymore a single word and translate it or look for pronounciation. One has to select the entire article and translate it, otherwise he/she needs to deselect the entire text, select again the word you’re looking for (maybe within a 12 minutes long article!) and translate it. I don’t know who beta-tested this new app, but I believe you need to go back to the drawing board.

The content is top quality as usual, but the new app recently updated presents some key issues: text size inconsistent across the articles (and cannot be changed); same for audio bars logo, they keep changing in size and they look fine only once you click on them. Plesse fix these issues

App is responding very slow, content and podcasts not loading correctly. I’d love to continue reading the economist but please improve your app

Content is 5/5 stars but the app is slow, unresponsive and continually crashes. It makes it less enjoyable to consume your great content. Please fix it.

The content is 10/10 and I’m a subscriber. But the app is quite another story. Someone made wrong strategic decisions at some point regarding the technology and it shows. It’s quite disturbing that an organization with such high caliber people would choose to build an app that’s ruining the image of the brand.

Da quasi un anno o forse di più, nonostante diversi aggiornamenti, l'app è lenta, smette di rispondere per qualche secondo e rende sgradevole la fruizione degli altrimenti ottimi articoli e contenuti dell'Economist. Anche la funzione audio presenta problemi, ogni tanto bloccandosi e lamentando misteriosi problemi (ma basta riprovare a riprodurre il contenuto e riprende… boh). Non sto usando dispositivi vecchi (uno di questi è un iPad M1) e non ho problemi con altre app; non aiuta eliminare e reinstallare l'app (ed eliminare la cache è impossibile). Molto comodo poter ascoltare la versione audio, con voci di qualità eccellente. Ovviamente, sempre sul pezzo dal punto di vista dei contenuti e dello stile inimitabile. Apprezzo molto anche il morning Espresso, che fornisce ogni mattina le notizie più importanti e immediate.

It’s very frustrating I cannot retrieve the full list of articles I saved on my devices, because every device is displaying only the articles saved in that device. E.g. if I save an article on the iPhone app I can’t find it in the “saved” section on the iPad app. l consider it as an unmissable feature.

Da qualche giorno

This app is just a slow web browser, nothing else. It doesn't really save the login, lose bookmarks and it's incredibly slow on iPhone 14. Offline contents doesn't work if you have a flaky connection because it tries to go to the internet but data exchange never ends. Given the price of subscription... save the budget for app developers and give them to journalists. No reason to have an app which is the bad useless copy of the website

The app keeps crashing and became noticeably slow when available. Content remains excellent but the possibility to read articles on the go has become very frustrating
