“Great app, excellent journalism! The Economist is wonderful. The content is interesting and relevant and the reporting is superlative. Equally impressive is the drive to stay relevant by presenting media in multiple formats, from print to podcasts and short videos.”
“Impeccable journalism with an app to match. The Economist doesn’t need my endorsement of the quality of their journalism. It speaks for itself. Rather, I’ll comment that their app is well-designed and refreshing to use…I love being able to easily download entire editions, listen to articles with real narrators and search for past articles.”

Translation doesn’t work. Please fix

The audio content is often incomplete and shorter than the text content. Even if it finishes reading, the “reading completed” notification sometimes doesn’t appear. As for the so-called “audio queue”feature? It’s not useful at all. Personally, I really dislike it.

so difficult to use dictionary

it is again nightmare update for non natives. so difficult to use dictionary. please fix as soon as possible!

Again and again

goeic3000 on

Japan

After the latest updates, Dictionary function on iPhone doesn’t work anymore. When you encounter unfamiliar words, you will select the words with your fingertip and press “lookup”, then dictionary shows the meaning. That function is disabled again and again after the software upgrade. Please fix it as soon as possible.

I can’t use translation in this app.

When will this problem be solved?

Now it’s a hassle to use IOS built-in lookup

simon_hou on

Japan

I had been using this app almost every day before this update and really enjoyed it even if I’m not a native English speaker. Inspiring contents (still it is) and nice UX. I can get translation of a word by just selecting it and then using the lookup service. Now I am forced to select a whole block of texts where I have to then move my finger a lot to locate the text I want to get translation. I was getting interrupted a lot due to this new function. That is quite annoying so now I might decide to cancel my subscription.

I am using the same account on both my iPhone and iPad, but the saved articles are not synced. I would be happy if you fix this.

worst update(4.6.0)

lksiekcmmvm on

Japan

For readers who are not English-native, this update makes apps useless. This update blocks “search” and “translate” options for iOS, which enable dictionary function. And cannot use 3rd party translating apps, cannot control font size in app, either. How can you read lengthy articles with such tiny letters on the smartphone screen? Considering significant number of foreign reader who are studying English with the Economist, this update makes them use app less. I hope it to be fixed real soon.
