The Economist Reviews

Awful new app

Cristiano Lucass on

New Zealand

In the new app it’s not possible to change the font size, it constantly asks for login details without triggering the automatic password fill in from iOS, and reading an article does not tick is as read. I’m unsure why the new app was launched if it’s obviously not ready. Giving one star as I cannot give -5

Journalism 10 - 2 App stability

Boatierow2000 on

New Zealand

I’ve been reading the Economist for decades and have no qualms about recommending it to everybody. The current app is massively unstable and frustrating to use. Every click of the finger takes seconds to load, the app crashes regularly and there seems to be no attention to detail for the user experience. Improve this please.

Way to many trackers

Stephane Busso on

New Zealand

98 partners can have access to the information shared through the app and using the economist. This way too many especially for a premium paid to have access to the content. That s to wonder how independent is the content provided.

Left wing bias but still a good read

David87542 on

New Zealand

Some of the articles read like liberal propaganda and don’t reflect a nonpartisan objective account of the facts. That being said if you ignore the political articles the rest of the magazine is really good.

Another App Store scam

NZParisian on

New Zealand

Content is wonderful, but this app is a scam: If is unusable without constant nag screens in the middle of content demanding a review like the cheapest, scammiest low quality spam. Hundreds of dollars a year and it is a scam. How much do I have to pay to not be nagged?

A fantastic way to get quality news

Poision 5th on

New Zealand

The app provides a great way to access Economist content. In addition to the weekly magazine there are daily updates providing a great summary of events around the world and quality articles on everything from current events to science and technology.

Review

Brownie 81 on

New Zealand

I have been a subscriber of the Economist for many years. The Fourth Estate is under unprecedented pressure worldwide. Democracy is imperilled if we don’t have strong, robust and independent journalism. It is therefore essential, that we reader’s, support this important bastion. I decided long ago to place a good percentage this support with the team at the Economist. You are simply the best. Thank you Graham New Zealand

Economist is rationalism based on evidence

RPJC43 on

New Zealand

The things I value the most about the Economist are the rational evidence-based journalism and the priority given to global issues. I particularly appreciate its well researched up to date coverage of Climate Change. It is the best journalism of its kind in existence. The political neutrality and independence makes it valuable to all. Please keep it up!

Not Free

WCWCWC123 on

New Zealand

Its misleading to be free to download and require a substantial prescription to read the news. Make either the title “premium monthly sub” or charge for the app.

Long association

Kiwi-taff on

New Zealand

I am 84 year old and emigrated to New Zealand in the 1960s. I have long enjoyed the Economist as a quality read. It is clear, incisive and analytical. It is my 1st read every morning. M Lewis PhD IEng FIET
