I only listen to - I don’t read. Play lists just don’t work. Articles seemingly disappear. I try to skip a few articles by clicking play now and end up back with the ones I didn’t want. I now have to carry my phone around the house, I used to airplay to the HomePod network. Please just enable this simple audio feature.
Apart from being a little disappointed that the Economist has chosen to narrate some of its articles using a machine generated voice, I was also surprised to hear how poor it is. Emphasis is in the wrong places, and most irritatingly, it will annunciate the full stop at the end of a paragraph before running straight into the next. Please return to actual human beings; for all our faults, we possess emotion and real intelligence, if not always good judgement.
Unfortunately, after a recent update on the app, the text is being cut off slightly before adds/charts/graphs.
I like to fall asleep to The Economist Audio queue but now once the queue is complete it automatically plays the whole issue whilst I’m asleep and so my whole night sleep is disturbed with The Economist playing in the background. Please fix it!
Good long reads. It has taken up 3GB of storage on my device. Would be good if I could clear its cache.
Last version was just about useable, but now you’re forcing the user to create a playlist. Before you could easily just dip in and listen from wherever you clicked. And now if you skip a track it disappears from the list Go back to simple. Few people have time to create a playlist for each week!!
It’s been a most educational instrument in my adult life. A must read weekly magazine that instructs, explains and opines in a very informative and often amusing way.
